But while traditional breeding takes lots of time to bring out small changes, genetic modification is quick and precise... and it's not limited to just food crops. \r
\r
With future advances in genetic engineering, we could be able to engineer plants that do many things other than just produce food... a frankly trivial task for glitterworld laboratories, which, according to the official RimWorld lore, routinely engage in human genetic modification with high precision. These crops are just some of those produced that have made their way to the Rim.\r
\r
-Super-rice and uberpotatoes: these crops (named by an overzealous marketer) are your standard GMO crop: they grow quickly and abundantly, and are resistant to blight, but they take a lot of research to synthesize.\r
-Fuelpod: a derivative to a peach, and it looks about as appetizing, but don't just bite in... the fruits are filled with chemfuel instead of nectar, enough to light on fire upon impact. They can be thrown as weapons, or pressed to extract chemfuel at a refinery.\r
-Oilpeach: the plant from which fuelpods were created. Grows naturally, and requires no tech to sow. Produces a small amount of chemfuel, and can start fires. The flames even smell like peach!\r
-Infrarose: widely known as the most beautiful flower in the universe, this plant throws all of its life energy into looking pretty, which leaves it fragile and short-lived... but its beauty is worth it.\r
-Tanglevine: this alien form of kudzu catches the ankles of anyone walking across, making it very hard to traverse. Useful for slowing raiders in your killbox, as it provides no cover. It's also slightly flammable, if you need to slow them further...\r
\r
SeedsPlease version: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1826195207\r
*NOTE: Since there's no base plant for tanglevine and infrarose, their seeds are engineered from biomatter (wood) instead.*\r
\r
If you have suggestions for new plants, please comment them!\r
\r
RECENT CHANGES:\r
Updated to 1.6!\r
Added Biotic Overdrive, a capstone tech that lets you improve your cotton and devilstrand to be 50% more efficient!
",83,[],[],null,[33,46,59,71
"38a85329-626c-4da5-b6af-774a256b267e","stubbed-toe","Stubbed Toe","Possibly the least terrible incident you can have.","https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1362659868","https://images.steamusercontent.com/ugc/936079623303796575/7CDC30203ADD1A68EA2ED0B909AFE05EFF9C7FE8/","battlemage64.stubbedtoe",[15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22],3501,4.8,"2018-04-16T00:03:32.0000000Z","2025-07-27T18:25:45.0000000Z
"3ae1699b-20b0-4e25-9ccb-500a714f4c77","the-william-initiative","The William Initiative","Nicknames?
