you woke up, the sky was still dark.

The first one crawled out of a cracked escape pod, hands covered in blood.
The second was trapped beneath a warped metal plate, calling for help until someone finally heard.
The third sat in the mud, staring at the burning wreckage in the distance, unable to say a word.

The wind moved through the grass.

Light.
Thin.
Carrying the smell of soil and leaves.

There were trees nearby.
There was water.
There was soil soft enough to turn over.
Far away, animals could still be heard moving through the land.
This place did not yet look like a grave.

So you began to live.

Drag back the wreckage.
Raise a roof.
Light a fire.
Bind the wounds.
Bury the dead.
Press seeds into the wet soil.
Put anyone who could still hold a weapon near the door.

The first spring came slowly.

The mud was deep.
Wounds refused to close.
Wind slipped through gaps in the unfinished walls.

But the seeds sprouted.

Then summer came.

The grass grew tall.
Animals came to the river at dusk.
Clothes left outside for a day in the sun became soft again.

Back then, you truly believed this place could be lived in.

When autumn came for the first time, it was only autumn.

Leaves turned yellow.
Crops were carried into storage.
Firewood was stacked against the walls.
Someone said that next spring, perhaps you could open a few more fields.

Winter was hard.

Door hinges froze.
The fire could not be allowed to die.
Those who came back from outside had to hold their hands near the flame for a long time before pain returned to their fingers.

But winter passed.

Snow withdrew into the shadows.
Soil showed itself again.
Water could be heard near the riverbank.

So you kept building.

More rooms.
Thicker walls.
Deeper storage.
Medicine moved inward.
Beds moved closer to the fire.

The second spring was shorter than you remembered.

The second summer was not as warm as it should have been.

Crops still grew, but slowly.
Animals could still be found, but fewer.
Caravans still arrived, but would not stay long.
When the door opened in the morning, the hinge made a short cracking sound.

You found reasons for all of it.

Latitude.
Altitude.
Bad weather.
Poor soil.
Last winter had been too long.
Rimworlds were always like this.

Until that autumn came.

Leaves fell as usual.
Storage was counted as usual.
Clothes were thickened as usual.
Firewood was stacked as usual.

But this time, everyone moved things inward earlier than before.

Food moved inward.
Medicine moved inward.
Weapons moved inward.
Beds moved inward.
Even conversations moved closer to the fire.

No one wanted to sleep near the outer wall anymore.
No one seriously discussed which fields to open next year.
Someone sealed seeds in a jar without writing down a planting date.

Life continued.

You could still sow.
You could still hunt.
You could still trade.
You could still rescue, argue, marry, break down, shoot, repair walls, cook, and sleep.

Only everything was closer to the fire than it had been yesterday.
Every trip outside was shorter than the last.
Every piece of food felt more like a reserve.
Every wall felt more like a boundary.
Every morning left a little less time to waste.

Later, white things began to fall.

They did not look like snow.
They landed on gloves and did not wet them.
They settled on roofs and did not melt.
They covered the dead like a very thin layer of ash.

No one understood what they were at first.

Only that after that, the outside became quieter.
There were fewer animals.
When the wind came through, the fire seemed to shrink.
Those who went too far returned unable to speak in complete sentences.

At last, you understood.

This was not a new home you could slowly adapt to.

It had only taken spring and summer back.

About This Mod

LastAutumn is an apocalyptic survival mod for RimWorld 1.6.

It begins with an ordinary crash landing: a few survivors, a field of wreckage, and a rimworld that still has seasons, soil, animals, and harvests.

Then the world begins to change.

This mod is not simply about making the game colder.
It is about a colony that can still plant, build, trade, and live while slowly realizing that the world beneath it is losing its future.

You will need to build shelter, maintain heat, stockpile food, redesign clothing, pull your base inward, protect greenhouses, and complete increasingly dangerous work within increasingly narrow windows of safety.

But what you are building is not a home.

It is the last margin left.

Current Breath

For a first playthrough, we recommend using the official storyteller:

Habitable Planet

It is not a person.
It is not a god.
It is not a director.

It is simply the planet itself — still seemingly habitable, yet already losing the conditions that made it so.

Important Warning

This mod does not provide a way to restore the planet.

Cold snaps will pass.
Ordinary events will end.
But the changes happening to this world will not stop simply because your colony survives one disaster.

Heating, greenhouses, clothing, geothermal power, maintenance, protection kits, and deep-cold equipment all matter.

They can protect colonists.
They can extend working windows.
They can keep the colony alive for longer.

But they cannot make spring reliable again.

Do not treat this mod as an ordinary cold-weather challenge.

As the collapse advances, colonists, ecosystems, trade routes, faction settlements, weapons, and machinery will all gradually lose the reliability they once had.

Author's Notes

LastAutumn is still in early development.

Development is currently focused on improving settlement collapse and evacuation resolution, long-term save stability, and performance.

Future updates will continue to expand life support, airtight construction, CO2 management, oxygen systems, and endgame content.

One Last Note

This is not a story about defeating winter.

It is about the last season in which preparation is still possible.

Finish
