Welcome to Bloodline Bloodlines - The Bloodlining!

This adds - hold your breath - bloodline genes!

The Bloodlines (so far!)

Feral Bloodline Carriers of this bloodline have feral tendencies. They're visually distinguished by their fast-growing brown hair. Carriers gain the following genes to xenogerm: Great Animals, Animal Warcall, Pyrophobia, Naked Speed, Awful Social, Awful Intellectual, Cold Super-Tolerant, Heat Super-Tolerant, Long Hair, Brown Hair. And gain the following traits: Ascetic, Nudist, Animal Friend (if using Big and Small Genes And More) Brute Bloodline Carriers of this bloodline are natural brutes, born for close-quarters combat. They're visually distinguished by their beards and red hair. Carriers gain the following genes to xenogerm: Cold Weakness, Heat Weakness, Awful Shooting, Very Aggressive, Strong Melee Damage, Robust, Great Melee, Hulk Body And gain the following traits: Bloodlust, Tough Morbid Bloodline Carriers of this bloodline are morbid in both appearance and behaviour. They're visually distinguished by their long, dark hair and red eyes. Planned Bloodlines:

Gambling Bloodline Carriers of this bloodline develop randomly. Let the gambling begin! Carriers gain the following genes to xenogerm: 10 random genes. (note: applied twice, at birth and upon adulthood) Will Require: Random Genetics Genes Expanded

How Do Bloodline Genes Work?

Through the Big and Small Framework, genes become capable of abilities some would call... unnatural. Upon activation, a gene can add/remove traits, genes, xenotypes, hediffs or a combination thereof. The genes can be set to only activate under specific circumstances. With these genes in particular: - Adult gene activates in adults (13 and older); it removes itself, adds the child gene, and gives the bloodline's effects. They can then pass the child gene onto offspring. - Child gene activates in children (12 and younger); it removes itself, adds the adult gene, and gives the bloodline's effects. Once they reach adulthood, the adult gene will activate. - Ah, the cycle of life!

FAQ

Ermmmm, what's the point? Why not just make germline xenotypes? Shut it, you blubberous buffoon. In a return to nature, you'd be banished to the wilderness and die alone. Anyway: - You can apply a xenogerm to a child, and then when they reach adulthood they get their genes additional to that xenogerm. - Inversely, you can apply a xenogerm to an adult to remove the bloodline genes, but their children may still get the bloodline. - Ensures genes you want inherited together get inherited together. All-or-nothing. (this is the real reason) - You can mix/merge bloodlines. Yes, getting a brute-feral-albino-morbid-archite pawn is possible! - It's just really cool. Can I request a bloodline? Sure, but I'll only make it if I feel like it. Can I make my own bloodlines? YES, with some XML modding. I've left a template file for anyone interested. If you're not up to make your own XML, nope. Don't make hemogenic bloodlines, though. There's a bug that makes max hemogen zero for pawns turned hemogenic with bloodline genes (alas, ye shall never see the Bloodletter Bloodline) Better Gene Inheritance? I recommend disabling xenogene inheritances, but leaving it on won't break your game or anything. You do you.

Performance?

No performance problems: I've been privately using this for months before publishing, including back when I was on a potato laptop.

Thankyou to:

RedMattis, for making the Big and Small Framework. Bacon. I like bacon.

If you think I'm super cool and stuff:

https://www.youtube.com/@jimothyworldbuilding3664 Note that this channel is *NOT* Rimworld related. It's a worldbuilding channel. That said, you might notice some Rimworld-esque stuff in the worldbuilding, such as organ harvesting, war crimes, morbid hilarity and widespread cannibalism. Also I *may* have been inspired to make this mod by stuff within my worldbuilding. Magic fusing of DNA enabling the existence of freaky bloodlines where all freakiness is either inherited together or not inherited at all.
