Clash Of Rim

Clash Of Rim is a dedicated-server multiplayer mod for RimWorld built around multiple independent colonies on one shared planet. Each player still runs and manages their own colony, while the server synchronizes shared world data for everyone. This is not a co-op mod where everyone controls the same colony at the same time. Clash Of Rim is closer to a long-running shared world: you can grow your own colony alone, then interact with other players through trade, diplomacy, support, and conflict. Players on the same server are strongly recommended to use the same RimWorld language. Cross-language servers may still show inconsistent generated names, tile labels, colony markers, ideology names, or mod-authored text, especially during world creation, colony founding, remote maps, and pawn transfer.

Features

Shared World

See other players' colonies, status, and relations on the same world map. The server synchronizes multiplayer world content, while each player keeps their own local quests, NPC settlements, and personal story events.

Player Diplomacy

Player factions can form alliances, declare war, or make peace. Allies can send support to each other, while enemies become valid targets for raids and forced deliveries.

Trade Market

Need a rare resource, or drowning in items you do not need? Post trade orders and exchange items, animals, slaves, and special goods with other players. Orders can be fulfilled manually by caravan, or completed by server airdrop for a shipping fee. Longer distances cost more.

Gifts

Send goods to other colonies just like gifting items to NPC factions. Against enemies, you can also force a delivery without their approval, giving your toxic waste a new destination.

Colonist Support

Send your colonists to temporarily or permanently join an allied colony. Temporary support pawns leave when their service time ends and form a caravan, so remember to bring them home.

Raids

Want to live like a raider? You can attack an enemy player's colony while they are offline and take whatever you can carry. Be careful: defender traps are hidden, and their colonists and turrets will not let you loot the base for free. Finish the raid within the server time limit. If time runs out, the server will close the battle map and you will lose all colonists and items still left inside.

Defense

Other players are much smarter than NPC raiders. Cover your base with traps and turrets, and set defense points for your colonists. Defense points let you control how defenders behave during a raid: patrol, hold position and fire, operate mortars, or charge the attacker. Your colonists are protected from permanent injury and death during defense. Attackers cannot capture them or take their personal equipment. You also do not lose everything in one raid: item losses are capped by server settings, buildings usually take hit point damage instead of disappearing, and wealth or cooldown protection gives you time to rebuild.

Server Shop, Bank, and Mercenaries

Spend silver in the server shop, sell selected goods back to the server, or take a loan from the bank. The richer your colony is, the more credit you can receive. Pay it back on time. You can also hire temporary mercenaries with selected roles and stronger work efficiency, or hire guards to help defend against the next player raid.

Offline Events

Trades, notifications, support requests, diplomacy, and other events are not lost when a player is offline. When you reconnect, the client continues processing pending events from the server.

Achievements and Trophies

Complete goals to unlock achievements. Achievements can also generate trophy blueprints that you can build inside your colony. The achievement system is still under development, and more achievements will be added over time.

How It Works

Clash Of Rim requires a separately running server program. After installing the mod, players connect to a server through the in-game entry point. If you only subscribe to the mod but do not have a server address, you will not be able to enter a multiplayer world.

Project and Server Download

The server program is not distributed through the Steam Workshop. If you want to host a server, download the matching server build from the Release page.

DLC Compatibility

The main mod includes built-in compatibility for official RimWorld DLCs. DLC compatibility is only active when the server has enabled the corresponding DLC. Royalty
  • Supports pawn transfer with titles, Empire-related identity data, and equipment.
  • Remote maps try to preserve Royalty-related state so DLC references are not lost during support, trade, or raids.
Ideology
  • Synchronizes player and NPC ideoligions. You can view other players' ideoligions in the ideology list, and transferred pawns can keep their original ideology.
  • Supports ideology icons, colors, names, and reference restoration.
  • Supports slaves and ideology-linked pawn state during transfer.
Biotech
  • Supports genepacks, xenogerms, ovums, embryos, and gene-bearing pawns.
  • Trades and gifts try to preserve genes, xenotypes, and source pawn information.
  • Supports world pollution synchronization and related server settlement.
Anomaly
  • Supports trade metadata for Anomaly books and some special items.
  • Remote maps guard or block anomaly content that could affect global state, reducing the chance that remote projections pollute your local world.
Odyssey
  • Supports orbital layers, asteroids, gravship content, and unique weapons in multiplayer flows.
  • Supports orbital colonies on the world map and applies special restrictions to some remote interactions.
  • Raids and trades account for Odyssey-specific items, buildings, and world-layer differences.

Safety Notice

Clash Of Rim connects to a server and processes multiplayer events sent by that server. Only join servers you trust, and do not connect to unknown servers casually. Multiplayer servers usually require all players to use the same mod list. Do not subscribe to, install, or enable mods from unreliable sources. RimWorld mods can run code, and malicious or tampered mods may affect your game, saves, or local environment.

Notes

  • All players should use the mod list, configuration, and language expected by the server. Translation-only mods are exempt by default, but players on the same server should still keep the same game language.
  • Server administrators can configure trade, raids, banking, mercenaries, shops, PvP, and compatibility rules.
  • Some third-party mods may require the optional compatibility package.
  • This mod is still in development. Server administrators should back up server data regularly.

Third-Party Compatibility

If your server enables mods supported by the compatibility package, players should also install Clash Of Rim Third-Party Compatibility: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3751942942
