Dignified Departure

Expands the vanilla colonist banishment system with more ways to part company. You can banish a colonist as usual, help them find a new home, or give them enough belongings to leave the colony with dignity. Leaving does not mean their story is over. They may be injured, die, or find valuables on the road. Once settled, they may even send a gift back to the colony—or return for revenge if things ended badly.
Spoiler
Mostly made as a way to deal with all those uninvited HAR aliens.

How to Use

Select a free colonist, open their character information, and click the vanilla Banish button. This opens a new window with three departure options.

Traditional Banishment

The vanilla banishment option. Other colonists will be upset by it.

Letter of Introduction

Introduce the colonist to a friendly or neutral faction. As you might expect, most factions are happy to accept someone young and capable, while children, the elderly, and colonists in poor health are more likely to be turned away. The target faction matters too: high-tech factions are difficult to join, while tribes will accept almost anyone. Bringing gifts can improve the chance of acceptance. Colonists who cannot walk must be escorted. Reaching the faction's settlement takes time. Along the way, the traveler may be injured, die, or discover silver and gold. If accepted, the colonist joins the target faction. If refused, they return to the colony.

Dignified Departure

Give the colonist enough belongings to start a new life. The expected amount depends on how long they have lived in the colony and the relationships they have formed. What they take affects both the mood of those left behind and how they feel about the colony afterward. Someone treated well may send a gift in return, while someone who leaves resentful may come back for revenge.
