Haylander's Melancholia — Moods Complete Overhaul

Haylander's Melancholia — Moods Complete Overhaul mod preview for RimWorld

Haylander's Melancholia completely replaces the vanilla mental break system with a depression and consciousness model.

Haylander's Melancholia completely replaces the vanilla mental break system with a depression and consciousness model.

WHAT THIS MOD DOES:
Instead of colonists going insane when their mood drops, their Consciousness stat is now directly tied to their mood level. A depressed colonist won't throw a tantrum — they'll just stop caring. They'll shoot poorly, work slowly, and move sluggishly, as if the weight of the world is crushing them.

Conversely, colonists in high spirits gain a Consciousness bonus, working faster and performing better in every task.

MOOD → CONSCIOUSNESS SCALE:
- Severely depressed (0–25%): −50% Consciousness
- Low mood (26–50%): −25% Consciousness
- Normal mood (51–70%): no modifier
- High spirits (71–100%): +50% Consciousness

All configurable in the mod options

MENTAL BREAKS: Completely removed. No more berserk rampages, no more sad wandering, no more social fights triggered by a bad meal. The consequences of neglecting your colonists are now slow, grinding, and realistic.

COMPATIBILITY:
- Safe to add to existing saves (colonists will receive the hediff on next map tick)
- Safe to remove (hediff will persist but cause no issues once the mod is gone)
- Not compatible with Psychology or other mods that overhaul the mood system
- Compatible with Combat Extended, Vanilla Expanded series, and most content mods

BONUS:
If you don't want to play with RimWorld's mood system or with the buffs and debuffs from my mod either, set them to 0% and you completely remove the game's mood system.
