About
Ever wish your colonists could feel the same relief and joy you do when friends or family return from a long trip? With this mod, they can! Your pawns will now feel a sense of relief and happiness after a reunion with the people at home! And if they were on their way for a while to that place you wanted to attack or trade with, they will be happy they finally reached it after such a long journey. Now rebuilt for 1.6, and it goes a lot further than it used to. Your colonists don't just notice that a caravan left, they notice who left, how long they've been gone, and who they're stuck on the road with.
Key Features:
Home Sweet Home:
Returning Caravans: Your pawns will feel a sense of relief after returning home from a long journey, glad to be home sweet home. The Longer the Better:
Great Relief: If their trip has dragged on, they will be even more relieved having survived the wildlands of the rim.Reaching Destinations:
Relief of Survival and Arrival: When your pawns reach your allies or finally get to the place you wanted to attack, they will be relieved they actually got there and didn't die because they wanted the mandatory nap right before starvation.Who Left, and Who Cares:
It Depends Who It Was: Everyone left behind reacts to the specific people they're separated from, one thought each. A partner or a child hurts most, then siblings and parents, then extended family, then close friends and friends. Somebody they genuinely can't stand leaving is a quiet relief instead. It Gets Worse: The effect deepens in four steps the longer the absence runs, and it works in both directions. A colonist out on a caravan misses the people back home exactly the same way the people at home miss them.Stuck Together:
Good Company: Travelling alongside friends, family or a partner keeps everyone's spirits up on a long haul. Bad Company: Put two people who hate each other in the same caravan and they will both let you know about it, every single day of the trip. The Trip Changes Them: Finishing a journey together shifts how those colonists see each other afterwards, for better or worse. Caravans are now a way to build friendships, or ruin them.Homesickness:
Wearing Them Down: Travellers grow homesick the longer they're away, in four stages. Their own bed, a proper roof, food that isn't out of a pack.Camping:
A Tent Is Not A Home: Setting up camp is never treated as coming home. The journey keeps running, the colony keeps worrying, and nobody gets a homecoming out of pitching a tent. Camps are restful though, so they wear travellers down slower than a day on the road. Works with vanilla 1.6 camps and with Set Up Camp.Traits Matter:
Sixty-Odd Trait Profiles: Psychopaths feel nothing. Recluses quietly enjoy an emptier colony. Depressives take an absence badly and iron-willed colonists shrug it off. Wanderlusters would rather not go home at all, and world-weary ones can't get back fast enough. Covers vanilla, all DLC, Vanilla Traits Expanded and Combat Extended's bravery traits. Profiles are plain XML, so other mods can add their own with one file and no load order requirements.Details:
All values below are the base. What a colonist actually feels is scaled by how strongly they feel about the person, their traits, and the strength slider in the mod settings. The mod works out where your colonists are rather than hooking into caravan events. That means caravans, vehicles, shuttles, transport pods, outposts, quest maps and modded travel all work without special cases written for any of them.- No Harmony patches. There is nothing for it to conflict with.
- Safe to add to a running save.
- Safe to remove.
- Plays nicely with Vanilla Expanded Framework, Vanilla Vehicles Expanded, Vehicle Framework, Set Up Camp, Yayo's Caravan and Vanilla Outposts Expanded.
