No animal raids mod preview for RimWorld

No Animal Raids In RimWorld, raid severity scales with your colony's wealth — the richer you are, the nastier the pirates sent to ruin your day.

No Animal Raids

In RimWorld, raid severity scales with your colony's wealth — the richer you are, the nastier the pirates sent to ruin your day. That makes sense. What doesn't make sense is that animal events like manhunter packs and mass animal insanity follow the exact same logic. A wealthy colony shouldn't attract 100 manhunting muffaloes. Nature doesn't check your bank account. On top of that, these animals use humanoid enemy pathfinding, which makes the whole situation feel even more out of place. This mod sets the base chance of the following events to zero:
  • AnimalInsanityMass
  • AnimalInsanitySingle
  • ManhunterPack
This mod does not remove hungry animal hunting your colonists though. A hungry wolf attacks you with no regard of your wealth. It's realistic, plus you may turn that off in the storyteller settings. This mod also does not prevent the psychic wave mad-animal event. That event doesn't spawn extra animals so it's not as stoopid as the AnimalInsanityMass event.

⚠ Important Note

By default, storytellers use a scripted sequence of intro threats at the start of a new colony — and a mad animal event is part of that script regardless of base chance. To fully prevent animal raids from spawning, make sure to disable "Intro Threats" in your storyteller settings.
