Palace Floors

This mod adds 450+ new floor types to RimWorld, covering styles from prehistory through the Middle Ages.

The main goal is to provide visual variety rather than unique gameplay mechanics for every floor. I also tried to keep the code as minimal and efficient as possible.

The mod introduces only two new resources—Stone Tiles and Salvaged Textiles—along with a small tech tree called Palace Floors. This research unlocks stone tile production, textile salvaging, and all of the new floor types.

Stone Tiles can be crafted at a campfire or an electric smelter using stone blocks of any type, providing a simple way to make use of unwanted stone blocks.

Salvaged Textiles can be recovered from any cloth apparel and used to craft poverty carpets, giving you a convenient way to recycle tainted clothing.

New: Devilstrand and patchleather can now also be used to craft floors.

Some floor types feature 2×2 patterns. The game automatically determines where each pattern begins and ends, so you may need to experiment a little to achieve the layout you want.

Balance
Poverty carpets accumulate filth more quickly and take longer to clean.
Prehistoric floors take longer to clean than ancient and medieval floors.
All floors in this mod take longer to clean than the standard RimWorld floors.

If you're looking for more advanced floor types, check out the modern extension in my workshop.

Everything in this mod was created entirely through XML editing.

Update

Palace Floors Extended is now available, adding 560+ additional floor types to the game:
