Turn your friends into RimWorld pawns

PawnHub lets your friends complete a personality questionnaire that turns their answers into playable RimWorld pawns. Start a survey from inside RimWorld and share the generated link or QR code. Your friend can complete the questionnaire in any modern web browser, including on their phone. PawnHub converts their answers into a complete pawn with traits, skills, passions, backstories and appearance. As soon as your friend submits the completed questionnaire, their generated pawn automatically spawns in your active RimWorld colony. The person completing the questionnaire does not need to own or install RimWorld.

How it works

• Open PawnHub from the bottom menu in RimWorld. • Start a survey to generate a shareable link and QR code. • Send the link or QR code to a friend. • Your friend completes the personality questionnaire in their browser. • PawnHub converts their answers into a complete RimWorld pawn. • When the questionnaire is submitted, the generated pawn automatically spawns in your active colony as soon as the game is unpaused. Every completed pawn is also saved in your own local PawnHub library on your computer. This allows you to import the pawn again later or select it during colonist setup before starting a new game.

Use PawnHub during an active game

Open PawnHub, start a survey and send the generated link or QR code to someone you know. You can continue playing while they complete the questionnaire. The moment they submit their answers, PawnHub generates the finished character and automatically spawns the pawn into your active colony. There is no need to restart RimWorld, reload your save or manually recreate or load the character if actively playing while survey is running.

Use saved pawns in a new colony

Completed pawns are stored in your own local PawnHub library on your computer. When preparing a new game, you can open PawnHub during colonist setup and select previously generated pawns for your starting colony. This allows you to build colonies from friends, family members, viewers or anyone else who has completed your questionnaire. Your local library belongs only to your installation. It is not a public or centrally hosted PawnHub library.

Privacy and networking

PawnHub runs the questionnaire through a small local web server on the host computer. When a survey is started, PawnHub creates a temporary public tunnel and generates a link and QR code that can be shared with the participant. The tunnel allows the participant’s browser to communicate with your running PawnHub session. It is used to display the questionnaire and return the completed answers to your game. Submitted answers and generated pawns are processed by your running PawnHub session and stored locally on your own computer. PawnHub does not upload or collect completed questionnaires or generated pawns in a central PawnHub database. Compatibility

PawnHub is made for RimWorld 1.6. It can also use compatible traits and content from supported mods when those mods are installed. Because PawnHub generates complete pawns and interacts with character creation, conflicts may occur with mods that heavily replace pawn generation, backstories, traits or colonist setup. Please report any incompatibilities or unusual results in the comments.

Linux troubleshooting

PawnHub currently works out of the box on Windows. Some Linux systems may require access to system SSH tools before PawnHub can create the public survey tunnel. Right-click RimWorld in Steam, open Properties, and add the following under Launch Options: PRESSURE_VESSEL_FILESYSTEMS_RO=/usr/bin:/bin Restart RimWorld after adding the launch option. When reporting a Linux problem, please include:

• Your Linux distribution
• Whether RimWorld is installed through native Steam or Flatpak
• The error message shown by PawnHub if avalible
• Whether the survey link was generated successfully
