Personal Food Preferences
Give every colonist their own food preference.
Some like barbecue, some prefer sweets, while others just want soup, seafood, fruit, fried food, or even dark cuisine. This mod adds personal food preferences to pawns. Eating a preferred food gives a mood bonus.
If **Dietary Variety** is enabled (disabled by default), two additional mechanics are enabled: the picky eating system and the preference deprivation system. Note that these two mechanics do add some management challenges to the game. However, you can adjust various parameters in the mod settings. If you don't want the picky eating system, simply turn it off.

FAQ
Q: Load order?
A: Load after
Harmony. If using
RimHUD,
EdB Prepare Carefully or
Character Editor, load this mod after them.
Q: Can this mod be added mid-save?
A: Yes. This mod can be added mid-save. After adding, colonists will begin acquiring food preferences and will experience mood effects based on those preferences when eating. It is recommended to save a new save file after adding and check that your modlist has no errors before continuing.
Removal mid-save is not recommended, as this mod stores preference data and related states on pawns. Removing it mid-save may leave missing references or save file warnings.
Q: Is there a conflict with the Ideology DLC?
A: There is more of a contradiction rather than a technical conflict. For example, a pawn prefers meat but the ideoligion requires vegetarianism — in this case, the pawn will struggle. This may look like a bug, but it is actually a coexistence by design.
Think about it — in real life, aren't there people who claim to follow certain rules but don't always abide by them? Food preferences are more innate. Pawns are generated with them at birth. Ideoligion rules are taught afterward. This mod does bring some potential challenges for players.
Q: How is a meal with multiple ingredients (vegetables, fish, meat, etc.) classified?
A: It is determined by both the meal's own classification and its actual ingredients. If a meal contains vegetables, fish, and meat, it will not be considered a pure meat meal or a vegan meal. Because it contains fish or seafood ingredients, it will be marked as a Seafood meal.
If the meal contains fish, the mod will still classify it as a "Seafood" related food. If the meal itself also has other clear classifications, such as soup, barbecue, fried food, dessert, etc., it may prioritize displaying as that meal type.
Q: If a meal consists of fish, eggs, and insect meat, will a pawn who prefers Dairy get happy mood?
A: Yes. In the current classification, eggs are categorized under Dairy. As long as the meal contains eggs as an ingredient, a pawn who prefers "Dairy" can match their preference through ingredient tags and receive the happy mood from eating a preferred food.
Q: In vanilla, pawns feel disgusted after eating insect meat. If a pawn prefers DarkCuisine, will they feel disgusted when eating a meal containing insect meat?
A: Generally, no. If a pawn's preference is "DarkCuisine" and the food meets DarkCuisine criteria (e.g., contains insect meat), the mod will remove some of the vanilla negative thoughts associated with such foods.
So a pawn who prefers DarkCuisine eating a meal containing insect meat will generally not suffer from the vanilla "ate insect meat" disgust and can still receive the happy mood from eating a preferred food. However, if other mods add additional negative thoughts that are not the vanilla ones, they may not be removed by this mod.
Q: Can this mod be used together with Vanilla Food Variety Expanded?
A: Yes. These are two different systems. VFVE directly encourages pawns to eat a variety of foods — food diversity directly adds happy mood. PFP (this mod) is more indirect: pawns are happy when eating their preferred food, but they cannot eat only that one category day after day, meal after meal, or they will be penalized.
