Technical Details

  • Performance impact: Unknown. However using fewer larger cameras instead of many smaller ones probably increases performance.
  • Mod is XML and XPath only but uses code from the original author's assembly.
  • Can safely be added to an existing game.
  • Can safely be removed from an existing game providing you destroy any structures from this mod and stop any research in progress related to this mod.
  • Requires the Real Fog of War mod loaded BEFORE this mod.

New Features & Changes

  • All cameras now display a special display radius that display their viewrange when placing them.
  • Removed entity cover from standing behind any camera from 20% --> 0%. In my opinion camera domes don't block bullets. It also does not hinder movement.
  • Added two new expensive researches.
  • Renamed the vanilla camera to "small surveillance camera".
  • All cameras are grouped into 1 button in the "Security" tab.

Notes

  • The original mod can also be combined with Glass + Lights for example to protect cameras against raiders.
  • The Real Fog of War mod was not created by me. I only created these modifications for quality of life and to prevent big endgame bases on large maps to literally spam hundreds and hundreds of cameras everywhere.
