Exos have reawakened on the Rim
After years of slumber the Exos woke up in a strange alien world. No more golden age, no more prosperity: only a merciless wasteland.
They were gifted with physical immortality... But everything has a price.
Exomind Xenotype
Exominds, more commonly known as "Exos", are former humans who abandonned, willingly or not, their organic bodies for new synthetic ones provided by Braytech.
While their body are technically stronger and ageless their fragile minds are not adapted to such drastic changes. This causes
DER, or Dissociative Exomind Rejection, which can drive Exos to reject their own body, suffering great physical and mental pain.
To delay the inevitable Exos need to "feel alive" and forget they are machines. This is why they need to fulfil basic living needs such as hunger or sleep, despite being immune to starvation and exhaustion. Keeping a high mood is also a great solution.
This can however be treated; a doctor can perform a
reboot surgery on an Exo's mind to clear any residual memory, resetting DER to its lowest level.
As a drawback it has a moderate chance to remove 1 or 2 levels of learned skill or even memories of loved ones. It is thus recommanded to wait for DER to reach its peak before proceeding.
While the 20 first reboots are relativaly safe the next ones have much more frequent and dire side effect (Alzeihmer, Dementia, greater memory loss and, in some cases, death).
How to find Exos
Exos can be recruited from several sources:
-Imperials (Royalty DLC) and Outlanders may rarely spawn as Exos. They are more commonly found among Ancient ranks,
- By selecting the "Lonely Exo" scenario,
- Or simply by changing your colonist's xenotype in the select screen (duh).
Before you ask: colonists can't turn themselves into Exos...

Genes
Compatibility
Rim's Destiny: Exo Race should be compatible with most mods. Do not hesitate to mention incompatibilities in the comment.
Some mods have compatibility in mind:
-
Dub's Bad
Hygiene Genes adds the No thirst and No bladder genes when installed
-
Genes Expanded - Skin Colors adds new possible skin colors,
-
Genes Expanded - Hair adds new possible eye and extension colors (since they use hair colors).
-
Alpha Genes: adds the Clean and Volatile genes to Exominds.
Known incompatibility:
-
Facial Animation: will draw vanilla-like heads instead of modded ones.
To solve this go to options--> Mod Options --> NL Facial Animations and uncheck "Exomind" in the "race and xenotype setting" list.
Q&A
Q: Will you add ?
A: If you have an idea feel free to post it in the suggestion discution below. If it is doable and if it fits my vision of the mod I'll try to add it. Just know I'm not an coding expert and I might not be able to add everything.
Q: How do I change the color of an Exo's eyes and head stuff?
A: Eyes and extensions (horns, plates and crest) use the hair color channel.
That way if you have the Ideology DLC or any hair color changing mod you can change the color of an Exo's eyes and extensions.
Q: So do Exos need food and sleep or not?
A: An Exo can survive without food but will still feel pain due to starvation. In the same idea an Exo will never fall due to exhaustion but will still feel very tired.
So if you're running out of food you can decide to starve your Exos to spare food for your other colonists. And if you need a pawn to stay awake for a long time (fire, lots of patients to heal, packing up a Gravship, ...) you can use an Exo to take one for the team.
Obviously since it's gonna piss them off their DER will progress much faster.
Q: I get an error message from that mod
A: Go to the
project's Github page and create a new issue with the error message and what happened so I can replicate and try to fix the issue.
Any issue posted in the comment section will be ignored. It's just to avoid flooding the comment section with error messages and coding debates.
Q: Will you make more mods about Destiny?
A: I will! This the first of an ongoing Destiny mod series. To check progress I have
a roadmap that contains every finished and planned feature. Keep in mind that I'm alone, I'm neither a good artist nor coding expert and I'm currently looking for a job, so don't expect daily updates.

Also big shoutout to the
Destiny Model Rips community. I used the 3D models they extracted as canvas to make the Exo faces, extensions, eyes and tatoos.
