Select a pawn. Right-click a tree. Click "Chop Nearby." Done.
Every tree in the radius gets added to that pawn's queue. No more right-clicking and prioritizing 15 trees one by one.
Great for forcing a pawn to focus on a task that doesn't fit their work priorities, without micromanaging every individual job.
Supported Actions
- Chop
- Haul
- Construct
- Deconstruct
- Sow
- Hunt
- Repair
- Harvest
Each one can be toggled on or off in the mod options.
Compatibility
- Designed to work with Pick Up And Haul and Harvest And Haul. The mod detects them at load time and adjusts its haul behaviour accordingly
- Tested against a personal core stack of around 120 mods with no other conflicts found
- Hit a problem with another mod? Drop it in the comments and I'll investigate
Performance
Built around three phases to keep the main thread free:
- Discovery: a quick radius scan when you right-click, to show counts like "Chop Trees (12)"
- Sort: items get sorted in the background while the menu is open
- Assign: jobs go out one per tick using a round-robin. Three pawns hunting nine animals each get three each
Jobs also yield to vanilla and other mods. When Haul Nearby queues the first item, it hands the rest off to Pick Up And Haul to avoid duplicates. If vanilla Opportunistic Work pulls a job out of a pawn's queue, the queue updates itself silently (logged as a quiet warning in the dev console).
For big colonies, you can disable the count display entirely. That skips Discovery until you actually click the option, and spreads the scan over 30 ticks (~0.5 seconds).
Roadmap
Each action started life as a standalone mod backed by a shared BatchOrders Library. This is the Combined release, packaging all of them into one. Once any early bugs are sorted, each action will be released as its own separate mod so you can pick and choose. Until then, individual actions can be toggled in the options panel.
Coming soon:
- Harvest Zone and Sow Zone: queue an entire growing zone in one click
- Multi-pawn cooperation: assign several pawns to the same target. Three pawns chopping one tree, or hunting one animal together
On the radar:
- Mine Nearby: designate ore and rock in a radius
- Tame Nearby: queue nearby tameable animals
- Slaughter Nearby: batch slaughter for a group of animals
- Train Nearby: queue training for multiple bonded animals
- Rescue Nearby: collect downed pawns and animals in range
- Strip Nearby: strip corpses in a radius
- Smooth/Carve Nearby: batch floor smoothing or wall carving
- Refuel Nearby: top up buildings in a radius that need fuel
Known Compatibility
If running alongside Achtung!, Achtung!'s context menu options will not appear. Achtung!'s other features (combat positioning, formation movement etc) are unaffected.
Open to feedback, suggestions, and bug reports. If something breaks, drop a comment or post in Steam discussions and I'll look into it as soon as I can.
