Space Aids
This is a troll/challenge mod in the same spirit as those mods that make eating without a table give -2000 mood.
This is a troll/challenge mod in the same spirit as those mods that make eating without a table give -2000 mood. Don't take it too seriously.
Try surviving with one of Rimworld's most annoying mechanics cranked up to eleven! This mod
>Gives every Biome the same disease spawn rate, which is approximately 5x as fast as a vanilla swamp
>Adds an incurable infection that is not lethal and doesn't reduce any stats other than Immunity Gain Speed which will quickly affect all your colonists
>nothing else
(actually I removed Organ Decay from the biome disease list because it is tied to the same event trigger and it's not very interesting in the context of the mod, so you won't get it randomly. You mostly see Organ Decay from Anomaly these days anyway.)
Mechanics
Disease MTB for all biomes is set to 3. Space AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDS is equally as likely to be rolled as every other choice combined, making diseases effectively MTB 6. In other words, you get 5x as many diseases as a swamp, but they're even more random.
When Space AIDS is rolled, it will infect every pawn in your colony. All other diseases infect the normal amount (20 - 50%). If every colonist is already infected, it won't produce a message when you roll AIDS, so the mod doesn't spam your messages or logs.
Space AIDS is an incurable but treatable infection. It's sort of like Blood Rot but without any penalties besides Immunity Gain Speed, can't kill you, and much easier to keep treated. It has three stages
>Below 1%, x0.8 Immunity
>Between 1% to 90%, x0.65 Immunity
>90%, 0.1x Immunity
Treatment time is once every 72 hours. Even very bad tends will more than easily keep it at 0%.
The disease chart for all biomes is
>8.333% Malaria
>8.333% Plague
>8.333% Sleeping Sickness
>8.333% Flu
>4.167% Gut Worms
>4.167% Muscle Parasites
>2.083% Fibrous Mechanites
>2.083% Sensory Mechanites
>2.083% Animal Flu
>2.083% Animal Plague
>50% Space AIDS
Notes
Pawns with AIDS generally won't die from diseases if they get treatment and bedrest, even with ordinary beds, ordinary medicine, and a good doctor. If they aren't resting or are starving though, ordinary diseases become much more dangerous. For the most part, this mod involves balancing work time with production and general resource starvation more than it does unbeatable super infections.
Diseases involve a lot of RNG so this mod is extremely luck based.
Immunity bonuses like from genes generally more than make up for any difference unless you leave your AIDS untreated.
Because AIDS is so easy to treat, it's better to micro doctors to not use real medicine for it. The constant passive drain is deliberately intended to be pressure when resources are tight that can lead to e.g. forgetting that some pawn has the flu and needs to be properly taken care of.
Every vanilla storyteller has the same chance of triggering diseases. It's based almost entirely on biome. Cassandra won't start triggering diseases until Day 9, Phoebe Day 12, and Randy Day 0. Otherwise they are identical.
This overrides all biomes disease tables, including modded biomes. This should work seamlessly.
There aren't really ordinary rimworld vanilla system disease mods due to incompatibility, but this mod probably conflicts with any of those.
Safe to add to an existing game.
In testing, was safe to remove from an existing game. You'll get red error messages when you do because the AIDS infections will get forcibly removed, but this should only happen once and it should be fine after that.
