Vanilla Spices

One day, I happened to be cooking a simple meal when my storage only had exactly 8 rice and 2 mushrooms left.

One day, I happened to be cooking a simple meal when my storage only had exactly 8 rice and 2 mushrooms left.

Somehow, my Tunneler pawn loved that meal because the game still counted it as containing mushrooms.

In vanilla, when a colony has an abundance of food, pawns tend to cook using a single ingredient—like a full 40 rice or 40 fungus—with no way for you to micro-manage the specific details. In some cases, this is wasteful.

I thought to myself: why not take control of this mechanic intentionally?

So, I made this mod.

New Garnish Filter

Inside the Bill Detail, you will see a new Garnish menu on the left.

Smart List

This menu only shows ingredients that you turned ON in the Vanilla ingredient list.

How it works

If you select a ingredient, pawns will only use 1 unit of that ingredient for the meal as garnish. The meal still counts as having that ingredient.

Multi-select

You can select multiple garnishes at the same time.

Garnish Saving Toggle

If your colony runs out of main ingredients and you want to use garnishes to fill the gap, just turn OFF "Garnish Saving" in the game options. Pawns will then be able to take more than 1 garnish if needed to finish the bill.

❗ DISCLAIMER:
This mod does not add any new ingredients; it only changes how pawns select them. It should be compatible with other mods that add new ingredients, though I haven't tested all of them yet.
If you encounter errors after deleting an ingredient mod, the issue may be caused by hidden garnishes. Try deleting and recreating the bill.
