What is this?
This is a mod that adds a new narrative element to your game. Your colony now has a recurring rageful villain that will come to ruin your day as long as he stands.
Swearing vengeance
When a raid is generated, it has a 7% chance of the raid being internally marked as a revenge raid. When that occurs, we wait for around 60% of the troops to be dead, but before a raid would typically be called off and fled. When that occurs we select a random non-downed raider to be marked as a vengeance pawn. The pawn will swear vengeance against the player (with lots of custom varied flavor text) and run off. From then on out, they have a hediff that makes them much faster and more resistant to pain. The revenge
When they come back, the next raid they are in is 50% bigger than what you'd usually get, and the vengeance pawn is in the raid with the rage hediff. If you kill all of their troops again, they will run off again. There is over 20 lines of flavor text written for all of the subsequent times you foil their plans. They will always return, always ready to make your day miserable.Best paired with
- Trauma and Integrity, another character storytelling overhaul I recently released.Frequently asked
- Mid-save compatible? - Yes! Just don't remove it.
- Do the raids get exponentially bigger? - Nah, they're always just 50% bigger than what you would usually get. They still scale with wealth. This nemesis is not supposed to be someone assumed to have massive resources/sway in their faction, simply a singular individual with a personal vendetta.
- Can there be multiple people declaring vengeance? - Not by default, but you can set that up in the mod options.
- What happens if I kill them? - They die, and take their vengeance with them.
- What happens if I capture them? - You basically win. They are no longer a vengeance pawn.
- Can another person declare vengeance in a run? - Yeah. Just kill the existing one to die or use mod options.
