Configurable Special Trees
Make RimWorld's special trees fit your colony while respecting what makes each tree unique. The mod includes a small number of carefully chosen quality-of-life defaults, including replanting trees whose lore does not rule it out. Anima and Archean trees remain non-replantable by default to respect their descriptions. Balance controls otherwise begin at vanilla values, and optional changes remain in your hands. Why I made this
I created Configurable Special Trees with the help of AI because the existing mods I found generally offered fixed changes that did not quite suit how I wanted these trees to work. This mod instead puts those choices in your hands: keep vanilla behaviour, make a small quality-of-life adjustment, or configure each supported tree more extensively. Open Options, select Mod settings, then choose Configurable Special Trees. Use Shared for rules affecting several trees, or select an individual tree for its personal controls. Hover over settings for additional details. Category and tree reset buttons restore only their own settings; Shared resets do not alter individual tree pages.Supported trees
- Anima tree — Royalty
- Gauranlen tree — Ideology
- Polux tree — Biotech
- Harbinger tree — Anomaly
- Archean tree — Odyssey
Shared controls
- Override vanilla and special-tree spacing with one configurable rule
- Allow guarded extraction and replanting of special trees
- Optional roof, fire, temperature, vacuum, and oxygen rules
- Permanent safe storage of extracted special trees
- Vanilla-style boundary displays and planning helpers
Tree controls
- Anima building and shrine ranges, grass growth speed and requirements, separate meditation, grass-contribution and linking access, linking participant quality and duration, meditation strength, and Anima scream effects
- Gauranlen pruning, connection strength, reconnecting, dryad limits and timers, healing and Gaumaker pods, caste production, combat and carrier stats, structure penalties, spacing, and optional connected-tree movement
- Polux cleaning range and interval, nearby-building behaviour, growth, fertility, yield, durability, spacing, natural occurrence, and display options
- Harbinger feeding range and speed, expansion, harvest yield, meditation strength, corpse-stockpile filtering, and spacing
- Archean influence range, terrain-spreading speed, soil rules, oxygen modes, selected-tree information, growing-zone helpers, boundary planning, and spacing
Automatic fixes
- Extends special-tree cutting protection to harvesting and roof edge cases
- Makes cocoa trees, saguaro cacti, bonsai trees, and timbershrooms follow the same extraction and replanting behaviour as other vanilla trees
- Allows Timbershrooms to be planted beneath roofs, matching their permanent- darkness cave-plant behaviour
Compatibility
- RimWorld 1.6
- Harmony is required
- Royalty, Ideology, Biotech, Anomaly, and Odyssey are individually optional
- Anima Tree Tweaks is redundant and marked incompatible
- Replantable Special Trees is redundant; use one mod's movement features
- Trees in Space overlaps with equivalent environmental settings here
- FrozenSnowFox Tweaks' optional Anima and Polux controls overlap. This mod loads afterward so its selected special-tree values remain authoritative; disable duplicate options if you want to avoid seeing two controls for the same behaviour
- Dryads & Gauranlen Trees Reworked has partial compatibility. Its replacement connection and dryad controls take priority; safe placement and environmental controls remain available here
- Vanilla Psycasts Expanded is compatible. Unrestricted Anima meditation, grass growth, and linking have been tested with it enabled
- AdjustedSpecialTrees is incompatible because it directly alters the same systems
