Encounter Cube
Summon the storyteller's encounters on demand. Build a cube, design exactly what you want to happen - a raid, a trade caravan, a weather event, almost anything from the event pool - pay for it, and have your colonists channel a ritual to call it through. But the cube only obeys as well as the ritual goes. A clean channel delivers what you asked for. A sloppy one twists it into something worse. And on a rare disaster, the cube turns the encounter on your colony. How it works
- complete the researches for the cubes (1 per cube tier) and build them.
- Design the encounter in a simple menu when clicking the cubes - choose the type of event, customize for what you're looking for.
- Pay the price - load it with silver, or offer pawns as a sacrifice for a stronger result.
- Channel the ritual - assign colonists and begin.
- Quality decides fidelity - a better room, more channelers, and richer offerings all raise ritual quality, and quality decides how faithfully the cube delivers.
Outcomes
- Jackpot - the cube overdelivers in your favor.
- Faithful - you get exactly what you designed.
- Imperfect - close, but it overshoots or sours a little.
- Botched - something worse than you wanted, with extra trouble on the side.
- Catastrophe - the cube turns on the colony. Rare, and scaled to how badly the ritual failed, be ready to suffer.
Three sizes
Small, medium, and large cubes trade build cost and research time for ritual quality - a bigger cube is a bigger investment that channels more reliably.Compatibility
- Works with modded content. The cube reads your game's live event pool, so encounters added by other mods appear right alongside the vanilla ones - no patches needed.
- Safe to add to an existing save.
- Plays nice with other mods. It adds its own content instead of overwriting vanilla systems, so it should be compatible with the vast majority of your modlist.
Requirements
- Ideology DLC - required (the cube uses the ritual system).
- Harmony - required.
- Biotech DLC - optional. With it, summoned raiders can arrive with their factions' xenotypes.
