Event Image Popup is a visual mod that displays contextual images on RimWorld's event popups. Raids, diseases, disasters, arrivals, quests, DLC events, and even other mods' events. Every time a letter appears, a banner image matching the situation is shown at the top of the popup. Now you can experience events with a picture, not just plain text.

Event Images

When an event occurs, a banner image is shown at the top of the popup. The image is selected automatically based on the type of event. About 100 base images are currently included. This is still far from enough, and more will keep being added in future updates.

Automatic Image Selection

Event Image Popup automatically finds the image that fits the event. If a specific event image exists, it uses that; otherwise it falls back to a category image or the source mod's preview image. For example, even if there is no image for a specific raid, a raid category image will be shown if one exists. If even that is missing, it is shown without an image, just like a vanilla popup.

Raid Image Variety

Raid events, which you see most often, show different images depending on the faction and method. Even for the same raid, a different picture is shown depending on which enemy attacks and how.

Automatic Mod Event Support

Events from other mods are supported automatically. Even if an event has no dedicated image, the source mod's preview image is shown on the popup if available. For other mods' events, the source mod name is shown at the bottom-right of the banner. Vanilla and official DLC events do not get a source label.

Adding and Replacing Images

Event Image Popup is built to make adding images easy. Without writing code or declaring dependencies, images are recognized automatically as long as the folder and file name match.

In other words, anyone can make a separate image pack to expand or replace the base images. An image guide document is included inside this mod's folder. The guide covers file naming rules, folder structure, image ratio, fallback rules, and the override method.

Image Specifications

The recommended image ratio is 8:3. Images up to 16:9 are shown without cropping. Images taller than that may be partially cropped from the center. The popup window adjusts automatically to the image and body-text length. Long letters get a scrollbar in the body area, and on small screens content display takes priority.

Q1. Are other mods' events supported too?

Yes, they are. My other mods, Evolving Enemy Strongholds and Join a Societies & Orders, are already supported. Even if another mod has not prepared separate images, its preview image is shown automatically on the event popup if available. If a mod author adds an image matching their own event defName, Event Image Popup uses that image automatically.

Q2. Can I make a separate image pack?

Yes, you can. It works as a code-free image pack mod with only an About folder and a Textures folder. As long as the set path and file name match, it is recognized automatically.

Q3. Can I add it to an existing save?

Yes, you can. This is a visual mod that changes how event popups are displayed. However, adding images, replacing images, and changing mod order take effect after a game restart.

Q4. Does it heavily affect performance?

No, it simply loads an image into the popup window. It has no impact on the game, and it boosts the player's mood.

Q5. Is it compatible with RPG Dialog?

Yes, it is now.
