Food Plan Adds a Food Plan system similar to the Drug Policy, allowing fine-grained control over what each pawn eats.
Food Plan
Adds a Food Plan system similar to the Drug Policy, allowing fine-grained control over what each pawn eats.
Why Do You Need This Mod?
- In vanilla, the mood buffs from Fine Meals and Lavish Meals are mutually exclusive. The most recently consumed meal's mood buff will override any existing one, while mood penalties from meals do not override mood buffs. This leads to:
- 1. Eating one Lavish Meal per day far exceeds eating Fine Meals all day.
- 2. Nutrient Paste has the best nutrition-to-satiety ratio at 300% efficiency.
- 3. Eating a Fine Meal after a Lavish Meal is worse than eating raw food.
+ Use this mod to help your pawns automatically eat one high-mood-buff meal periodically, maximizing the nutrition-to-mood conversion ratio.
Food Scope
- By default, items with FoodType of Meal or those that provide recreation effects will appear in the food plan for configuration.
- Meal-type foods are only consumed when the pawn is hungry, so there's no need to worry about waste from improper configuration.
+ The above scope can be customized in the Mod Settings screen.
Prisoner / Patient Plans
- The prisoner/patient food plan available in the Manage Food Plans screen can be used to configure the diet of all prisoners and bedridden patients.
+ Prisoner/patient plans are disabled by default.
Empty Pool Fallback
When an intended meal is unavailable (on cooldown, out of stock, forbidden in the world, or no longer allowed by the plan), the system steps through a three-tier fallback before giving up:
- 1. Try another scheduled meal within the active dietary plan.
- 2. Fall back to the pawn's regular food policy, temporarily excluding only the items still on cooldown.
- 3. Fully resolve to the vanilla feeding logic to prevent starvation.
Relationship with Drug Policy
- If an item appears in both policies, any real ingestion — whether from eating or drug use — still counts against the cooldown, since both policies observe the same ingestion event.
Q&A:
Q: Why don't corpses/plants assigned in the prisoner food plan work?
A: They don't work in vanilla either. I'm using the vanilla warden feeding/delivery logic.
Q: Can I add/remove this mod mid-save?
A: In theory yes, but backing up your save first is recommended.
Q: Is this compatible with other similar mods (e.g. Real Dining)?
A: I don't know. You can test it yourself. If you encounter errors, please send them to me.
