Haytrap [1.0]

Haytrap is a new security item made of.

Haytrap is a new security item made of... hay.

Wait, wait, wait...! There's more to it than that! Haytrap is a long burning pile of hay that can be used to create a perimeter wall of fire! Did that grab your attention?

If that wasn't enough, you can use it to slow down your enemies. These will slow movement as they are hard to walk across. You can even imitate your favorite war criminals and set up a horrible heat box to trap incoming raiders. The only limit to Haytrap is your imagination.

DISCLAIMER:

By subscribing to this trap, you accept that neither Mr.Xuiryus nor Thundercraft is responsible in any way for any burns caused by this trap, and that you hold us blameless for any war crimes you may commit with this.

CHANGES AND DETAILS:

  • Each tile still costs 10 Hay to build. (Despite being made of Hay, they do not rot or deteriorate. However, while players can Deconstruct, they won't get all the Hay back.)
  • I had to change a number of tags to make it work with .
  • I renamed it from "hay trap" to "hay mat" as I think the latter fits better, even if it is a bit less honest. These are still located in the Security menu, though.
  • I gave it Mass and added "MinifiedThing" to tags. I believe this allows it to be uninstalled and moved, such as with the MinifyEverything mod.
  • I increased the Flammability from "1" to "1.5" to make it easier to catch fire and, hopefully, spread. To help balance this, I increased MaxHitPoints from 1000 to 1250 because increasing Flammability should make fire burn through hitpoints faster.
  • I lowered the Beauty penalty from a grotesque -15 down to a more reasonable -7. I do not think of haystacks, hay bales or straw floors as being that ugly. Indeed, some find them homey or even beautiful in a rustic sort of way. To compensate, though, I added tags and set it to -2. Having hay function as or on the floor is not the cleanest. Seriously, it is dirty.
  • I lowered the from 40 down to 25. I could not justify giving this cheap thing the same pathCost as Sandbags (40) since Hay grows so fast. Also, Sandbags would grant cover to the enemy walking on them while these do not. Further, in real life, walking on hay mats or hay bales should not be as slow or difficult as climing over stacks of sandbags. Their real purpose is to set them on fire, with the added pathCost just being a nice bonus.
  • I reduced the resolution of the texture from 1024x1024 down to a more reasonable 128x128. The texture, alone, inflated the size of this mod. And there was no reason to as the texture was blurry. To make up for this, I increased the contrast. If anything, I think the new texture looks slightly better in-game than before.

COMPATIBILITY:

It should be compatible with other mods. I can't imagine this causing a problem. But, if you find an issue, please report it.

SAVED GAMES & UNINSTALLING:

It works without having to start a new game. However, before you uninstall, be sure to remove all "hay mat" traps, both in your main colony and in any sub-colony or abandoned colony (assuming you've built more than one).
