Roof Collapse Pillar [1.0]

Have you ever seen what a collapsed roof does to a colonist?

Have you ever seen what a collapsed roof does to a colonist? Nasty, isn't it? If lucky, he or she will only get minor to moderate injuries. But it's not unusual for this to seriously injure or kill.

Wouldn't you like to trigger a roof collapse over your enemies?

This mod allows your colony to build a "roof pillar (weak)" out of 1 unit of Wood or Stone. It is described as, "An intentionally weak structural column barely able to support a roof and designed to collapse after taking slight damage."

You will find it in the 'Security' menu as this is meant to be used as a trap. When you want to trigger a collapse, you'll need to damage it to destroy it. However, it only has about 4 hitpoints. A mortar shell or bullet or two should do the trick. And, if it's made of Wood, a fire may do it.

IMPORTANT:

Don't forget to use the Zone menu to designate a "Build roof area" around the pillar to have a roof built. I believe the maximum roof tiles that a pillar can support is a radius of about 6 (or a diameter of 13). When you click to build a "roof pillar (weak)" or select an already built one, it displays this radius.

In order for a collapse to happen, you need to be sure that the only support holding up the roof tiles is the "roof pillar (weak)". If you have, say, a Wall or mountain rock adjacent to the roof, not all of it may fall after the pillar is destroyed.

Also, a safety tip: It would be ill-advised to have such a setup be used as a high traffic area with one or more of your colonists walking under it frequently. You never know when, say, a lightning strike will happen or when raiders decide to set up and launch mortar shells. Remember: This pillar is so weak a single bullet can blow it over.

Finally: Keep in mind that it is not possible (without another mod) to build a roof over trees. You must have trees cut down to allow for roof tiles.

COMPATIBILITY:

It should be compatible with other mods. I can't imagine this causing a problem. But, if you find an issue, please report it.

SAVED GAMES & UNINSTALLING:

It works without having to start a new game. But before you uninstall, be sure to remove all Wood or Stone "roof pillar (weak)", both in your main colony and in any sub-colony or abandoned colony (assuming you've built more than one).

All the .xml files are my own or modified from the core game - mostly derived from the vanilla Wall. Though, in addition to RimWorld Core files, I did take a look at the files in Roof Support by Match, which helped me figure something out.
