Heating Food
Tired of your pawns eating frozen prepackaged meals from the central kitchen every single day?
Tired of your pawns eating frozen prepackaged meals from the central kitchen every single day? Fed up with food that lacks that homemade, fireside warmth? Then grab the Heated Food MOD! Even ice cream can be heated up before eating! Sure, cold food is edible—but hot food is the one true way to enjoy RimWorld cuisine.
The food temperature update system is highly optimized, so performance is not a concern. With 625 stacks of food on the map, performance cost is only 0.004ms, and the mod can be added mid-save.
This mod adds a temperature attribute to all food items. Food temperature gradually equalizes with the ambient temperature over time. Freshly cooked food starts at 50°C (122°F). When food is above 30°C (86°F), consuming it grants a +6 mood bonus and significantly reduces the chance of food poisoning.
Worth noting: eating heated food also reduces the severity of hypothermia, making it especially useful for starts like The Lost Tribe or Sea Ice scenarios.
When food drops below 30°C, colonists will attempt to heat it up at a stove, campfire, brazier, or microwave before eating—unless they are too starving to wait.
A new building, the Microwave, has been added. It can be used to prepare simple and fine meals, as well as quickly reheat food.
