♛ Leadership Expanded: Faction Stability
Every faction on the rim has a breaking point. Faction Stability gives every world faction a hidden Stability score from 0 to 100, a measure of how firmly their leadership holds together. Kill, kidnap, recruit, or convert the people who hold a faction's power and you shake the whole faction, and the consequences spread across raids, diplomacy, territory, and faith. It reads the strength of the factions around you from the simulation mods you already run, and falls back to its own model when they are absent. Ideology and Harmony are its only requirements, and it pairs naturally with Ideology Leadership Expanded without depending on it.✦ A Breaking Point for Every Faction
- Per faction stability: every faction carries a living score from 0 to 100, recomputed each day and saved with your game.
- Drawn from the world: a faction's natural standing blends its military strength, population, economy, and claimed territory, read from your installed simulation mods.
- Recovers and erodes: stability drifts back toward a faction's natural level over time, while a strike against its leaders drives it sharply down.
✦ Strike at the Crown
A faction is only as steady as the people who lead it. The mod watches what happens to every faction's leader and role holders, and reacts to each fate differently:- Killed or executed: the hardest blow to a faction's confidence.
- Kidnapped or captured: a leader in chains is a faction adrift.
- Recruited or converted: losing a leader to another cause cuts deep.
✦ Consequences That Cascade
A shaken faction is a weaker, more desperate one.- Raiders lose heart: attackers from an unstable faction may break and flee, or defect to your colony outright.
- Weaker raids: a faction in turmoil cannot field the force it normally would.
- Grudges and bounties: wronged factions hold the act against the culprit, and a faction that loses its leader to your blade can post a bounty on the colonist who did it.
- Revolts and lost ground: a collapsing faction can shed a settlement to the wild, and its grip on the world weakens.
✦ The Schism
When a faction's stability truly collapses, it can tear in two. A splinter breaks away as a brand new, hostile faction with its own settlement and leader, and it carries a living copy of its parent's ideoligion. The breakaway faith begins as a near twin, then drifts apart over the years as its own creed takes shape. If the parent can spare a settlement, the splinter seizes it in the upheaval, and the two become bitter enemies.✦ Vassals, Bounties, and a Reactive Rim
Stability flows into the systems you already play with.- Vassalage: a collapsing faction may have a settlement submit to you, while a faction that recovers its strength can reclaim a vassal you took from it.
- A bounty economy: when one faction assassinates another's leader, the wronged faction can post a contract on the killer's leader, a job you are free to take.
- Avenge your allies: when an ally's leader is murdered, you inherit the grudge.
✦ Reputation Shapes the World
With Karma and Reputation installed, your colony's moral standing becomes a force of its own. A saintly colony draws disillusioned raiders to defect and steadies its allies, while a feared, corrupt colony rules its neighbors through dread. The way the world judges your strikes shifts with your name: deposing a tyrant reads as justice, while murdering a kind leader is remembered as villainy.✦ Seen at a Glance
With Modern Faction Menu installed, every faction shows a clean stability bar and band, from Stable down to Collapsing, with a tooltip that explains the state and a history graph that tracks every rise and fall across your campaign. An unstable faction is flagged the moment you open the menu.✦ Deep Mod Integration
Every integration is optional, detected at runtime, and silently does nothing if the mod is absent.- World Domination: military strength feeds stability, and collapse stirs revolts.
- Economics and Demography: population and inflation shape a faction's standing, and a collapse bleeds its people.
- Faction Territories and Vassalage: claimed tiles count toward stability, and vassals change hands as factions rise and fall.
- Simple Leadership: its faction and settlement leaders join the roster, and its power struggles feed a faction's stability.
- Grudges and Simple Warrants: assassinations become revenge quests and world bounties.
- Spread the Word: a leader's conversion is read as an act against their faction.
- Karma and Reputation: your colony's standing colors how the rim answers your strikes.
✦ Everything Is a Switch
Every consequence has its own toggle, and the weight of each world input and every event can be dialed in mod settings. Build the political layer you want, or pare it back to a single mechanic.✦ Requirements
