[MOMO]Space Capsule

[MOMO]Space Capsule mod preview for RimWorld

Take your room with you!

Take your room with you!

Built a useful workshop, bedroom, field base, or defensive position, but wish you could move the whole thing somewhere else?

Now you can pack it into a belt-sized space capsule!

Space Capsule adds a wearable utility device that can capture an entire rectangular section of your colony—including buildings, constructed floors, foundations, and stored items—and deploy it again on suitable open ground.

Capture a room

Equip a space capsule and use the Capture command to select a rectangular area.

Instead of converting structures into materials or blueprints, the capsule stores the real game objects. Buildings retain their quality, hit points, orientation, fuel, bills, switches, storage contents, and supported component data.

Walls, doors, beds, workbenches, powered buildings, shelves, items, constructed floors, and foundations can all travel together.

Deploy anywhere suitable

Use the Deploy command to place the stored area on explored open ground.

The captured layout is restored without rotation, preserving the original relative positions of its buildings, floors, and items.

Filth and all non-tree plants inside the deployment rectangle are removed without producing resources. All growing zones, stockpile zones, dumping zones, and other Zone objects inside the rectangle are also cleared.

Warning: Crops and valuable non-tree plants will be removed without harvest, and cleared zones are not recreated.

Highlights

  • Preserves real objects: Quality, durability, fuel, bills, switches, orientation, stored items, and compatible third-party component data are retained.
  • Transactional operations: Capture and deployment are validated before completion. If an operation fails, moved objects, terrain, plants, filth, and zones are restored whenever possible.
  • Safe activation: Both abilities require a short 180-tick startup. Moving, falling down, removing the capsule, or an invalid map change cancels the operation.
  • Quality-based capacity: Higher-quality capsules can carry larger rectangular areas.
  • Three deployments: A capsule can successfully deploy a payload three times. Failed attempts do not consume a use. After the third successful deployment, the capsule is destroyed.
  • Wearable utility equipment: Uses the Belt apparel layer and therefore cannot be worn together with a shield belt.

Capacity

Maximum total rectangle area is determined by capsule quality:

  • Awful: 36 cells
  • Poor: 64 cells
  • Normal: 100 cells
  • Good: 144 cells
  • Excellent: 196 cells
  • Masterwork: 256 cells
  • Legendary: 400 cells

The nearest selected cell must be at least 3 cells away from the wearer, while the farthest cell cannot exceed 30 cells.

Capture restrictions

  • The area must contain at least one player-owned building or constructed floor.
  • Only complete player-owned buildings can be captured. Multi-cell buildings and attached structures cannot cross the selection boundary.
  • Roofs must be removed before capture.
  • Pawns, animals, corpses, non-player buildings, and containers holding living beings or corpses will block capture.
  • Blueprints, frames, fire, projectiles, and other temporary objects are not stored.
  • Zones, home areas, allowed areas, plans, designations, and roofs are not included in the payload.

Deployment restrictions

The entire target rectangle must be inside the map, explored, unroofed, and supported by suitable natural terrain.

Buildings, items, pawns, corpses, trees, fire, blueprints, frames, constructed floors, and other solid occupants will block deployment. The capsule will never deliberately destroy these objects to make room.

Research and crafting

Research space capsule technology after Fabrication using a hi-tech research bench and multi-analyzer.

The capsule is produced at a fabrication bench and requires:

  • 80 plasteel
  • 4 advanced components
  • 30 gold
  • Crafting skill 10

Compatibility and notes

  • Designed for RimWorld 1.6.
  • Requires only Core.
  • Does not require Harmony or any framework mod.
  • Capture and deployment only work on the wearer's current map.
  • Stored layouts cannot be rotated.
  • A loaded capsule can be dropped, stored, carried in an inventory, or taken with a caravan.
  • If a loaded capsule is destroyed, everything inside it is permanently lost.
  • Do not remove a mod that provides stored building or item definitions before deploying the payload.
