About Nonlethal Ripscanner
Nonlethal Ripscanner offers a new option from a humane perspective.
This mod adds a button to the subcore ripscanner that allows it to switch to “Nonlethal Scan” mode.
A subject who completes a nonlethal scan will be ejected alive from the scanner together with the newly produced high subcore.
By default, starting a nonlethal scan requires three times the usual amount of steel and components.
The material cost multiplier can be adjusted from 1x to 10x in the mod settings.
In exchange for surviving the procedure, the subject receives permanent health conditions and a mood penalty, and can never undergo another ripscan.
Applied Effects
The following effects are applied to a pawn after completing a nonlethal ripscan.
Motor Pathway Burnout
The pawn’s Moving capacity is forcibly fixed at 0%, leaving them unable to stand or walk.
This condition cannot be removed through normal treatment.
Neural Pattern Extracted
The pawn can no longer undergo either a lethal or nonlethal ripscan.
This condition cannot be removed through normal means.
Received Humane Treatment
The subject receives a mood penalty.
This thought remains active for as long as “Neural Pattern Extracted” is present.
Notes
Requirements
This mod requires the Biotech DLC and Harmony.
It is made for RimWorld 1.6.
Cancelling the Procedure
If a nonlethal scan is cancelled before completion, the subject will be ejected alive without receiving any permanent effects.
However, any materials already loaded into the scanner will not be returned.
If the scanner is uninstalled or destroyed while occupied, the subject will also be safely ejected. No high subcore will be produced, and all loaded materials will be lost.
Changing the Material Cost Setting
The material cost multiplier is locked to the scanner when preparation for a nonlethal scan begins.
Changing the multiplier in the mod settings will not affect a scan that is already being prepared.
To apply the new setting, cancel the current loading process and start the scanner again.
Death Refusal
This mod does not account for revival effects such as Death Refusal from the Anomaly DLC.
After completing a nonlethal scan, a subject can no longer undergo either a lethal or nonlethal ripscan, regardless of how many revival charges they have remaining.
Normal lethal ripscanning is otherwise left unchanged.
Compatibility
Compatibility is not guaranteed with mods that alter the subcore ripscanner, pawn health conditions, or death-related processing.
Disabling or Removing the Mod
Before disabling or removing this mod from an existing save, make sure that no pawns still have “Motor Pathway Burnout” or “Neural Pattern Extracted.”
Removing the mod while these conditions remain in the save may cause errors because their definitions will no longer be available.
Use this mod at your own risk.
