TL:DR This mod adds a hostile industrial-to-spacer faction and four xenotypes made with vanilla genes, in order to get more out of biotech's content :D
The Stratotion colonists are unique among their peers on the rim, genetic anomalies of a special variety. Like many others of the original Earthborne colonies, Stratos nuked itself back to the stone age, even ripping apart their moon in their intensive spacer conflict. The Lunar archipelago proved to be a powerful symbol for the people of Stratos, and while they did advance back to the industrial tech level, their culture would came to place an emphasis of the dangers of powerful technology. This was the origin of a rift between colonies founded in the Lunar Archipelago and the perpetual industrialists below. A rift that would lead to the Stratotion exodus to the Rimworlds and their 'untouched' planets.
On the Rimworld you land at you will encounter one such colony, but due to the unexpected presence of powers greater then themselves, they have been forced to take up some spacer technology in order to stop the Empire from incorporating them into their sphere of influence, keep pirates and insectoids at bay, and hold back the mechanoid hives. They've even allowed some outsiders to join them, but the majority of the colonists come from the following four Xenotypes.
The most common are the Gasfey, gnarly little fellas aren't they :D Locals have come to call them Orcs, Goblins, Ogres, and even Elves, but the few who know of the true history of the isolationists know them to be nothing mystical at all. The Gasfey are the results of centuries of industrial-tech genetic modification through radiation exposure. This practice, initially a measure to compete against a disparity in quality of life between the Lunar Archipelago's Type-3 colonies and Stratos' cities, became so widespread as to lead to the background radiation of Stratos becoming too dangerous for most life. Not the Gasfey maybe, but what of their food?
Thus the exodus began, and the Stratotians set their sights on the myriad unclaimed Rimworlds that dot the outer reaches of Human space. By cryosleep is spacer tech, and the ruling council of Stratos elected to commission a fleet of seedships from the Lunar Archipelago without caskets, instead opting for living facilities and genetics centers, or Stratotion design. the first of the xenotypes to to come out from the centuries of interstellar experimentation would be the Liqidria.
The Liqidria are notable for their bulbous, oozing skin, but gameplay wise they are much like their Gasfey brethren, only with milder disadvantages at the cost of a normal diet requirement. They are known to some as Nymphs, Sirens, and Nereids.
Solisprite thunder across the Rimworld plains as the strongest of the Sakoku Stratokratia. Statuesque, stalwart, and solid, they have come to be known as Gargoyles, Giants, and generally speaking great warriors in nearly every way, especially melee combat.
Plasapixi are the pinnacle of Stratotian engineering, the apotheosis of what breeding can beget and the peak of radiotherapy's inaccurate but wide-ranging mutations. Their poor, lonely, psychic souls call out through time and space, creations of misguided applications, and there are secrets to them and their closeted selves that no one, especially not on the rim, has come to understand. Perhaps one day their true story will be told...
