What is this?

This is a brand-new storyteller for you, built for a thoughtful, immersive experience through the ages on your own terms, with a satisfying era mastery mechanic.

Meet Peto

Peto is a caveman who has been thrust into a world of powerful technology. He is hesitant to adapt to its comforts, and cautiously attempts to use it for the benefit of his tribe. He feels the heavy burden that comes with the call of progress at any cost.

The central mechanic

Peto sets a threat scale limit for each era, allowing you to achieve the absolute maximum each era has to offer one by one. Once you beat a threat at that limit, you achieve mastery of the era. The specifics of that behavior depend on your discussed dilemma.

Set up to your liking

Peto's dilemma of progress is yours to guide him through.
  • The threat cap for each era
  • Whether he should act like Cassandra or Randy
  • Whether mastering each era is required to advance (Requires Node Research and/or VFE Tribals)

Who is this made for?

This is meant for people who want to do a very long playthrough spanning each tech era, but who don't want the constant race to keep advancing to keep up with rising threats.

Best paired with

- Node Research, for an overhauled tech progression experience with tech advancement. - Vanilla Factions Expanded - Tribals, for Animal tech era and another form of advancement. - Progression: Storytellers, for having a more unified storyteller experience along with categories. This mod includes a category patch built in.

Frequently asked

  • Mid-save? - Yeah, just dont remove the mod
  • Why the name? - Peto is a name with roots associated with ‘rock’ or ‘stone,’ carrying the sense of something solid, steadfast, and enduring. I think it fits the character I've made here and you should delete Twitter.
