Enjoy Your Stay!

RimPoker is not just a decorative table mod. You sit down and play one seat yourself, while your colonists play according to their personalities. Sometimes a light game for fun, sometimes a poker showdown where you stake your colony's entire fortune against faction leaders. Sit around the poker table for a friendly game, or use the comms console to join high-stakes online games for real silver. You control one seat directly, and the remaining seats are played automatically, each driven by their own AI. Silver/gold balance was never a concern here. Installing this mod sets the silver/gold stack size to 1,000,000. This can be adjusted separately in the mod settings. This mod was made with a single wish — to casually enjoy a game of poker in RimWorld. This mod was inspired by the Poker Night series.

Key Features

  • Playable Texas Hold'em, Seven-Card Stud, and Blackjack mini-games
  • A hand-ranks window that makes it easy to learn and adapt as you play
  • Monte Carlo win-rate based AI
  • Comms-console online poker where you stake your colony's silver
  • The hardest mode of all — "Animal Spirits" (Texas Hold'em only)

Texas Hold'em

RimPoker uses standard Texas Hold'em rules.
  • Pre-flop, Flop, Turn, River, Showdown progression
  • Blinds, pot, side pots, and all-in supported
  • Raise slider, Call, Check, and Fold controls supported
  • Blinds increase every 5 hands.

Seven-Card Stud

RimPoker supports both Western and Korean rules. The rule can be changed in the mod settings.
  • Each player competes with seven cards
  • Western: Fold, Call, Raise supported — standard Western betting flow.
  • Korean: Half, Quarter, Bbing (min), Ttadang (double), Call, Fold supported — played with the 4-card or 5-card rule.

Blackjack

RimPoker uses standard Blackjack rules. The player aims to get closer to 21 than the dealer, without going over 21.
  • Hit, Stand, Double Down, Split, and bust handling supported
  • Standard dealer-action rules applied

Old Maid

Fun doesn't always have to involve silver. Enjoying some relaxed recreation with your colonists is its own reward.
  • A light game played only at the table, with no silver at stake
  • Just playing casually lifts the mood of every colonist who joins

Play It Yourself

You play through either the poker table or the comms console. A dedicated UI shows your hand, the community cards, the pot, bet amounts, and each seat's chips.

Colonist AI

Colonists don't just act at random. Each colonist has a different poker tendency based on their traits. Some colonists call often, some fold carefully, and some raise aggressively.

Friendly Table Games

At the poker table you can hold friendly games. Friendly games don't stake real silver; instead they fill your colonists' recreation need, and a win or loss affects the player's mood.

Comms-Console Online Poker

Through the comms console you can play online poker for real silver. Unlike a light friendly game, in online poker you can win or lose your colony's wealth. Winning a lot raises your standing with each colonist, while losing costs you their trust by the same measure. You need at least 2,000 silver to join, and you can set your starting stack in increments of 1,000. The blinds scale automatically with your buy-in. Setting a higher amount can also earn you additional rewards.
  • 5-player Texas Hold'em, 5-player Seven-Card Stud, 7-player Blackjack
  • Real silver/gold buy-in
  • Compete against the representatives of each faction
  • On a win, collect your prize converted into gold and silver
  • In Texas Hold'em and Seven-Card Stud, buying in for 10,000 silver or more gives a chance at an additional reward.

Bottom Dealing

If your hands are quick enough, you can seize victory with ease. And if sleight of hand is hard to pull off online — just hack your way to a better hand. But if you get caught dealing from the bottom, be ready to face the consequences. No one is allowed to defile the sacred game of poker. At the poker table, certain traits (Nimble, Fast) and your manipulation efficiency increase the odds. In online poker, your Intellectual (research) skill increases the odds. As the games go on, the tables may also turn — an opponent may try bottom dealing against you. Make sure to retaliate. Strike the nearby outpost of the faction that cheated you. Reinforcements may fight alongside you — destroy the outpost and claim your reward.

Animal Spirits

Animal Spirits is the hardest mode, playable from the comms console. It only opens when you have 500,000 or more usable silver, and entering stakes all of your colony's silver and gold.
  • Requires 500,000 silver or more
  • All silver and gold are collected
  • You cannot escape by closing the window
  • Face off against 4 faction leaders
  • Starting stack fixed at 20,000
  • Blinds 400 / 800
  • On a win, the recovered silver & gold is returned fivefold
  • On a loss, everything recovered is gone
The opponents are not ordinary colonists but the powerful leaders of each faction. They play conservatively and accurately, and they won't chase a bad hand.

Just One More Hand…!

When Animal Spirits comes down to a 1-on-1, a special event may occur. It is the final, brutal moment that decides the winner — and the loser. Excessive greed only invites disaster, so tread carefully. Sometimes letting go of greed is the answer.

Dialogue and Chatter

Colonists display speech bubbles that match their actions and the situation. If the Interaction Bubbles mod is installed, its speech bubbles are supported.

Optional AI Dialogue Integration

RimPoker optionally supports external AI API integration. If you configure an external AI API in the mod settings, it can generate dialogue and chatter tailored to your colonists and the world. The dialogue also adapts to whether you're playing at the table or online. It works perfectly fine with the built-in dialogue even without AI integration. The API setup is optional. All poker features work normally even if you don't use it.

Statistics

You can review your statistics from the mod settings. Which game you played the most, how much you've won, how much you've lost, and more — all your numbers at a glance. (The add-on mod RimPoker - Hwatu provides its own statistics separately, in that mod's settings.)

Q1. CE? VE? EES? Is this compatible with all of them?

Yes, it's compatible. There probably aren't any, but if you find a mod that throws errors and needs a compatibility check, feel free to let me know anytime.

Q2. Does this use real money?

No — it only uses your colony's silver and gold.

Q3. Can I add this mod and load an old save?

Yes, you can. However, since it changes the silver/gold stack size, removing the mod mid-playthrough is not recommended.
