RimWorld Viltrumite Hybrids

RimWorld Viltrumite Hybrids mod preview for RimWorld

RimWorld Viltrumite Hybrids RimWorld Viltrumite Hybrids is built for players who want the entire Viltrumite ecosystem, not a stripped-down version of it.

RimWorld Viltrumite Hybrids

RimWorld Viltrumite Hybrids is built for players who want the entire Viltrumite ecosystem, not a stripped-down version of it. This project combines the systems, genes, backstories, gear, and xenotype framework created across Viltrumites in RimWorld (VIR), Invincible Xenotypes, and the gene mods patched into that ecosystem to create new Viltrumite hybrid xenotypes that actually function as part of the same world.

Current Xenotypes

The mod currently includes: Genie Viltrumites combine the lesser strength of Weak Viltrumites with the calm temperament and mechanical aptitude of Genies. Less aggressive than their Viltrumite kin, they excel at working with machines and mechanoids while retaining formidable Viltrumite resilience. They are integrated with the existing Viltrumite ecosystem, including Viltrumite backstories, uniforms, inheritance, and rare traveler appearances. Hussar Viltrumites are weak Viltrumites bred for war, combining reduced Viltrumite strength with the extreme robustness of legendary Viltrumites. This makes them exceptional frontline tanks capable of enduring punishment that would cripple most soldiers. Outside of combat, however, they are poorly suited for work requiring intelligence, technical skill, or social ability. Like Genie-Viltrumites, they are integrated with the existing Viltrumite ecosystem, including Viltrumite backstories, uniforms, inheritance, and rare traveler appearances. This is only the beginning. More Viltrumite hybrid xenotypes will be added as the project expands.

Viltrumite Hybrid Breeding

RimWorld Viltrumite Hybrids includes its own breeding system so supported Viltrumite pairings produce the hybrid they are actually supposed to produce instead of relying entirely on random gene inheritance. The system is simple:
  • Viltrumite + Genie = Genie-Viltrumite
  • Viltrumite + Hussar = Hussar-Viltrumite
  • Viltrumite + Thraxan = Thraxumite
Either parent can be the Viltrumite. The child receives the established hybrid xenotype rather than a random mixture of the two parents. Stronger Viltrumite bloodlines still matter. If the Viltrumite parent carries a stronger version of the Flight or Equilibrium genes, the hybrid can inherit those stronger genes while remaining the correct hybrid xenotype. That means Elite, Legendary, and Blood of Argall Viltrumites can pass their superior Flight and Equilibrium traits to their hybrid children without turning those children into normal Viltrumites. Outside of these supported pairings, normal RimWorld and Better Gene Inheritance rules continue to apply.

Thraxan + Viltrumite Breeding

The existing Thraxan and Thraxumite content from Invincible Xenotypes has also been integrated into this system. A Viltrumite breeding with a Thraxan will now reliably produce the existing Thraxumite xenotype. The child keeps the proper Thraxumite identity and gene set while still being able to inherit stronger Flight and Equilibrium genes from the Viltrumite parent. For example, a Thraxumite born to an Elite Viltrumite can remain a Thraxumite while inheriting Elite-tier Flight and Equilibrium. Hybrid xenotypes themselves are not treated as full Viltrumites for this system. This prevents hybrids from endlessly triggering additional forced hybrid conversions when they reproduce.

Adaptive Viltrumite Scaling

RimWorld Viltrumite Hybrids now patches the VIR Viltrumite bloodlines to use Smart Low-Adaptation from Invincible Xenotypes instead of VIR's standard Omni-Adaptive Lite system. Weak, Elite, Legendary, and Blood of Argall Viltrumites now use Jim's experience-based adaptive growth system, meaning their long-term combat potential is earned through use rather than being limited by VIR's old bloodline-specific adaptation caps. In practical terms:
  • Weak Viltrumites can now grow far beyond their old adaptive ceiling.
  • Elite and Legendary Viltrumites retain their stronger base genetics, but their adaptive potential is no longer capped below full strength.
  • Blood of Argall remains the strongest natural Viltrumite bloodline, but adaptation itself now follows the same earned progression system across all VIR Viltrumites.
This does not make every Viltrumite equally powerful. Their underlying strength, durability, speed, flight, equilibrium, and other bloodline genes still determine their base power. The patch only standardizes how their adaptive growth works.

There Will Not Be a Lite Version

The large dependency list is intentional. The entire purpose of RimWorld Viltrumite Hybrids is to take advantage of the full VIR + Invincible Xenotypes + patched gene-mod ecosystem. In practical terms, this mod is almost a modpack within a mod. If you want one xenotype and three dependencies, this probably is not the project for you. If you already have a ridiculous mod list and want Viltrumites, Invincible xenotypes, expanded genetics, backstories, suits, hybrids, and all of their supporting systems working together, you are the target audience.

The Invincible Mod Ecosystem

The three of us developing this growing RimWorld Invincible ecosystem are working together to make our projects as compatible and à la carte as possible. The individual projects can still be used separately depending on what you want in your game. RimWorld Viltrumite Hybrids is my project for players who want to combine everything. As the ecosystem grows, this mod will continue expanding alongside it with additional hybrids, compatibility, and integration.

Fair Warning

This mod is not intended for the light modder with a puny modpack.
