Silviculture

What does this mod do?

What does this mod do?

It adds a "quality" property to trees that determines the wood yield from them. The higher the quality, the more wood you get.

Can I affect the quality of my trees?

Trees are assigned a quality when they spawn, but trees will often spawn with a quality similar to their neighbors. By cutting down low quality trees and leaving high quality trees, you are more likely to get higher quality trees. Planted trees also naturally have a higher quality than a wild tree on a fresh map.

Okay, but why?

My brother is an arborist, and he asked me to make this mod. It adds a little more realism to maintaining a forest than the vanilla experience of just cutting down fully grown trees. Please direct all silviculture-related questions to him, I don't know about this stuff.

Performance

Lightweight, shouldn't affect performance in any meaningful way. There's no additional logic per-tick, the mod just adds new logic to spawning and harvesting trees.

This mod is brand new, some numbers are subject to change in the backend. I'll remove this note after feedback.
