Storytellers Expanded - Sparkle

Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down, Never gonna run around and desert you, Never gonna make you cry, Never gonna say goodbye, Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.

Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down, Never gonna run around and desert you, Never gonna make you cry, Never gonna say goodbye, Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.

"Probably not the most mechanically complex storyteller, but definitely the chattiest one at the moment."

Supported Languages: 简体中文, 繁體中文, English, Japanese (日本語), Russian (Русский)

Sparkle is a very joyous storyteller. The stories she orchestrates will feature a massive amount of quests, trivial matters, and raids—and be warned, it's a truly massive amount. She combines Cassandra's periodic raids with Randy's randomness, meaning your story will be extremely unpredictable, and multiple raids will be a common occurrence. However, the difference lies in Sparkle's extra mechanics and vast amount of text that surpasses other storytellers (at least before April 2026): •Storyteller Performance Mode When you enable the Sparkle storyteller in a save, you can make a choice to turn Sparkle into a mute or a chatterbox, the latter being the default mode. Extra Decisions Sparkle has an independent meter. You can double-click and drag it. If Director Mode is enabled, you can single-click to expand Sparkle's ramblings. When you trigger certain events or experience certain things, she can spend these points to provide you with assistance: randomly generate an aurora event, make toxic fallout dissipate, or directly block the next raid? You'll know once you try. Alright, if you really want to know what Sparkle can do:
Spoiler
Add some rare goods to a trade caravan; of course, you'll have to buy them yourself, or find another way to obtain them.
Spoiler
Directly remove the next raid generated by the storyteller (natural raid). Special raids generated by developers or quests cannot be intercepted.
Spoiler
Increase the stats of the pawn who joins from the wanderer event.
Spoiler
Make small animals on the map self-tame.
Spoiler
Convert a center drop into other types of raids.
Spoiler
Lower the difficulty of quests and increase the rewards.
Spoiler
All of the above are triggered by probability.
Chatter Time Sparkle reacts to various events and will also chat idly when nothing is happening. Currently, Sparkle has 32 lines of dialogue for each specific trigger, and 200 lines of idle chatter. If you have the following mods enabled, each will add 8 additional mod-specific idle chats, bringing the total number of dialogues to 832. The Dead Man's Switch Milira Race Kiiro Race MoeLotl Race Cinder Of The Embergarden Gloomy Dragonian race Ratkin Ratkin Faction+ Ratkin Faction: Oberonia aurea Miho Combat Extend (Yes, there really is CE compatibility) Difficulty Selection Sparkle has two difficulty options: "Gentle" (default) and "Vanilla". In Gentle mode, Sparkle's various extra actions will be more frequent, and the overall pace of the game will be fast but not feel extremely difficult. In "Vanilla" mode, the game will become very difficult.
In addition to the storyteller's special mechanics, the mod also adds 2 new items and 1 orbital trader type: •Sparkle's Surprise Box Sparkle will give you this little box through various means, and you can open it to find all sorts of strange and wonderful things. If you're lucky enough, you might even find a larger version of the surprise box inside—which is a surprise in itself. •Orbital Trader: Astral Express An orbital trader similar to the vanilla rare goods trader. It has more goods and less silver in stock, but the difference is that the Astral Express will buy 1 bag of toxic waste for a fixed price of 10 silver. Who could be buying it?

Q&A

Q: Can I add this to an existing save? A: Yes. But this is a storyteller mod, and I recommend starting a new save to play. Q: Can I disable it mid-game? A: You can choose other storytellers to play with at any time. If you want to uninstall the mod, make sure there are no new orbital traders or surprise boxes from the mod on your map. Once you've confirmed, you can uninstall it. Q: Judging from the mod compatibility, it seems this mod allows for custom text? A: Yes, if you want to add compatibility for your own mod, you can refer to the description in the IdleChat_Ext_.xml file within this mod.

Bug Feedback

Since this is a storyteller with complex mechanics, bugs are likely to exist, as I was the only one involved from production to testing. If you want to report a bug, please first enable developer mode, find "Dump: grief log (recent 100)" under Sparkle in the Debug menu. It will pop up the recent running log of the Sparkle mod. Copy it, and along with the situation you encountered, send feedback in the Bug section below—of course, the more information, the better.
