This is a collection of mods that I would add to Rimworld NO MATTER WHAT. First time play through or venerable player, 20 year old computer or linus tech tip, tribal playthrough or ultra-tech 40k slugfest - it doesn't matter. These are mods that in a perfect world would be, should be, and maybe will be, base game. There are no new items, weapons, gameplay mechanics, textures. Rimworld will run better, smoother, and play more conveniently with this pack than base game. There are optimisations, very essential UI changes, and mods to make your base game experience better ONLY. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want some graphics and UI upgrades (no extra mechanics) then take a look at my 1.5 Graphics and UI upgrade pack, designed to be used alongside this! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=27912582902: Load Order
Pick ONE of EITHER the RimPy load order, or the Rimworld built-in default mod manager load order! RimPy Load Order (highly HIGHLY recommended!): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y_sbpKI3bGEfFocxKWzVyIxk2d6lWR4Y/view?usp=drive_link Rimworld built-in default mod manager Load Order: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QIKa0iRtvmWfy-uTuBjEvl4ZDDGhlFyK/view?usp=drive_link (Place in AppData\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld by Ludeon Studios\ModLists)3: Included Mods Explanation
Below is a mod by mod explanation for all the mods in the pack, and why you should be interested. Important words for a budding modders: - Optimisation: improves, speed up, or otherwise increases game efficiency. - Framework: a mod that contains things that which are used by other mods. - UI: User Interface - the menus, things you can see, but don't add new game play mechanics, or change the way you play. - Pawn: an in-game person, animal, or Mechanoid. Generally refers to your own colonists. - Hediff: a health condition your characters might have. Injuries, diseases, bionics, pregnancy, supercharge, etc are all examples of hediffs. - FPS: Frames per second - how fast your PC is rendering the game. - TPS: Ticks per second - how fast the game's simulation is running. One in-game day is 60,000 ticks. Speed buttons in-game increase the ticks per second. Big mod packs, slow mods, etc will impact your maximum tps and slow the simulation down. I wrote a description of every single mod in the pack, but Steam workshop text limits deleted it all. I'm not doing it a second time. They're all great mods and very useful, trust me.4: General Advice
For any new complex mod pack you should FULLY reset Rimworld, and all related files, to ensure no old, outdated, or incompatible mods are left behind. Reinstalling Rimworld or unsubscribing from mods WILL NOT fully reset your installation and old files can still persist! The folders that should be fully reset before beginning a new modpack: Delete all files in the following folders: Local Mods: Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RimWorld\Mods (Manually installed mods folder) Steam Mods: Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100 (Steam mod download folder) User data: AppData\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld by Ludeon Studios (Your user configurations, saves, etc) Then open Rimworld, reapply your user settings (screen resolution, volume etc), ensure that no mods are still present in your save.Installation:
1. Subscribe to the collection, and allow the download time to complete, might take a while to copy over! 2. Using the in-game mods menu, from the main menu, reorder the mods to match the order below (as they're organised on the actual collection itself), make sure harmony is at the VERY VERY TOP (above even Rimworld and it's DLC!) 3. Restart the game5: FAQ
Q: I have a "Mod mismatch" window trying to load the save game! A: You can safely ignore it, occasionally I'll remove mods from the pack if they cause issues later down the line, update, or have some other unexpected conflict. I won't ever remove or alter anything save-game breaking. Q: Is this a virus? (I get this a lot) A: I 100% get the caution, but Youtube is my job, I have 180k+ subscribers, and if I tried to do anything even remotely malicious I would lose my ability to pay rent overnight. Obviously I wouldn't maliciously spread a virus amongst a Rimworld mod pack. You are more than welcome to ask amongst comment sections, my discord, or even here on steam if you're unsure. If you want to be extremely certain, I would highly recommend using the files with something such as https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload which will check the files amongst many masterlists provided by security companies.6: Changelog
22nd May 2024 - Updated to 1.5: Temporarily removed the following mods until full version compatibility with 1.5 is added: - SlaveBar (performance benefits, significantly when using Facial Animations, Coloured Mood Bars, and other portrait ornament mods) - What's Missing? (highlights missing items in recipes, good for accessibility and quality of life) Swapped Camera+ for SimpleCameraSettings due to feature creep from the former. Noticeable TPS impact from additional map highlighting mechanics.Load order
