Crimson King - Storyteller

THE CRIMSON KING WATCHES.

THE CRIMSON KING WATCHES.

A cosmic entity of pure, patient malevolence takes His throne above your colony. He does not test you. He does not challenge you. He executes a methodical, ritualistic campaign of ruin — and He has all the time in the world.

PERSONA

Somewhere between Cassandra's tension and a cosmic horror. The Crimson King is not random and not merciful. Every event is deliberate. The silence between raids is not relief — it is anticipation.

MECHANICS

Seven Seals of the Deadly Sins Seven seals break at fixed days across your first 270 days, each tied to one of the Seven Deadly Sins. They are not random events — they are scheduled punishments, arriving whether you are ready or not.
  • Seal 1 — Sloth (Day 30). One colonist surrenders entirely. A random pawn is seized by catatonic breakdown — they stop eating, stop moving, stop caring.
  • Seal 2 — Gluttony (Day 60). Every colonist contracts food poisoning. One quarter of your raw food stockpile rots or vanishes simultaneously.
  • Seal 3 — Lust (Day 90). Bonds shatter. Up to three romantic pairs — lovers, spouses — are forcibly separated. A social fight erupts immediately after.
  • Seal 4 — Envy (Day 120). Every faction notices what you built. All non-player factions lose 20 goodwill at once. A 1.4× forced raid arrives. Faction Corruption begins.
  • Seal 5 — Wrath (Day 150). The violence arrives from inside. Two to three colonists enter berserk rage. Corruption surges.
  • Seal 6 — Greed (Day 210). The King collects His tithe. 40% of all silver and gold on the map is destroyed. A letter tells you exactly what was taken. Faction flips begin.
  • Seal 7 — Pride (Day 270). The most lethal seal. Two colonists enter murderous rage. Every other colonist takes blunt brain trauma — potentially fatal. Corruption floods. A 2× forced raid arrives. With Anomaly: a void incursion tears through alongside. Three days later, if your colony still stands, the King acknowledges you.
Corruption Tracker Colonist deaths, mental breaks, and seal effects all accumulate Corruption. When it overflows a threshold, a cascade fires — mass hysteria, a psychic drone, or a DLC-specific event. Corruption decays slowly. It never fully clears. Seven Brides Every N raids (configurable), a named Bride of the Crimson King arrives leading an amplified assault. Seven brides, seven escalations: A'tivik, A'ghor, A'distat, A'zieb, A'nuul, A'habbat, A'haideh. DLC owners receive additional Bride enhancements. The King's Eye Opens Periodically the King turns His gaze upon your colony. A dialog appears:
  • Defy: A harder raid arrives within 48 hours.
  • Submit: Buy days of near-silence at the cost of accelerated threat scaling — and an immediate goodwill hit to every faction watching.
Anomaly and Royalty owners unlock a third option. Faction Corruption Starting at Seal 4, all non-player factions begin losing goodwill on a slow, persistent tick — every 5 days by default. Submitting to King Watches doubles the drain. After Seal 6, any faction that falls below −80 goodwill turns permanently hostile, with a dedicated letter explaining the flip. The King does not merely destroy your colony. He erodes the world around it until there is nowhere left to turn. The Foundation Rite A button in the HUD lets you burn silver to delay the next seal break. Each rite costs more than the last:
  • 1st rite: 777 silver — delay +15 days
  • 2nd rite: 7,777 silver — delay +15 days
  • 3rd rite: 77,777 silver — delay +15 days
  • (continues escalating up to 7,777,777 — the inevitable is only postponed)
An optional sacrifice adds +10 days — but the King picks who is offered, and there is a 50% chance they refuse and turn hostile instead. Endless Mode Survive all seven seals and keep at least one colonist alive three days after the seventh. The King acknowledges you. Then He gives you a choice:
  • Walk away. Switch storytellers and carry your victory with you. He will remember.
  • We do not yield. Enter Endless Mode. The raid multiplier starts at ×1.0 and climbs by ×1.0 every 30 in-game days. Milestone letters arrive. There is no ceiling.
Positive Event Blacklist Wanderer arrivals, orbital traders, resource pod crashes, goodwill gifts, and royal gifts are suppressed. Regular faction caravans and manually accepted quests are unaffected. Each blacklist entry can be toggled individually in mod settings. DLC Integration (optional) Royalty, Ideology, Biotech, and Anomaly each add bespoke cascade variants, Bride enhancements, and King Watches dialog options. Fully graceful if absent — no errors, no missing features.

LANGUAGE

Japanese translation included — 日本語訳収録済み。 Full translation of all letters, dialogs, HUD labels, and the storyteller description. Added by community request.

DIFFICULTY

Designed for experienced players. Recommended: Rough or above. Harder than Cassandra at equivalent settings. Do not start a new colony expecting to relax.

COMPATIBILITY

Mid-save storyteller switching: Fully supported. All CrimsonKing state — seals, corruption, bride count, silence, faction corruption, rite delay, endless mode — is saved with your colony. Switching to another storyteller pauses all mechanics; switching back resumes from exactly where you left off. Nothing resets. Mod settings: Each feature (seal breaks, corruption tracker, Seven Brides, King Watches, event blacklist, faction corruption, foundation rite, endless mode, submission debt) can be individually toggled and tuned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • RimWorld 1.6
  • Harmony (required, listed as dependency)
All DLCs optional.
