♛ Ideology Leadership Expanded
Vanilla treats the ideoligion leader as a slot you fill once and forget. This mod makes leadership a living political system: leaders are elected, challenged, deposed, and succeeded automatically — in ways that match your ideoligion's character — and every transfer of power is a real gathering your pawns physically attend.
✦ Your Memes Are Your Constitution
Every player ideoligion is classified automatically from its memes and structure:
- Elective (default) — scheduled elections every 15/30/60 days. The colony gathers and votes; incumbents can lose.
- Autocratic (Authoritarian · Cult of Personality · Corsair) — ambitious believers challenge the leader to ritual combat. Weapons down, fists up, whoever stands rules. Pacifist leaders fall to bloodless coups.
- Dueling cultures (Blood Court · Bushido · any autocracy) — discontent boils over: a believer with a grudge against the leader, or simply at the end of their rope, can issue a spontaneous challenge at any moment. Keep your people happy — or keep your champion close.
- Triumvirate (VIE Republic) — rule of three using VIE's own triumvir roles. Succession promotes the chain; empty seats go to whoever bonds best with the sitting triumvirs.
- Royal (VIE Aristocratic) — designate heirs, abdicate on your terms, watch crowns pass by blood.
- Theocratic (VIE Exalted Priesthood) — the conclave ordains whoever has converted the most souls. Every conversion is tracked.
✦ Real Rituals, Not Popups
Elections, conclaves, leadership duels, coronations, abdications, even triumvirate council meetings — all true Ideology rituals. The camera pans to the gathering (optional), a message announces it, and the ceremony waits until every eligible voter or witness has arrived before it begins — with a fallback so a stuck pawn never stalls the colony's politics.
✦ The Leadership Tab
A new main-bar window in the Modern X Menu visual style: the sitting leader with a live approval bar, every seat and role, full reign history color-coded by how each reign ended, and complete election records with per-candidate vote bars.
✦ The Succession Tree
A drag-to-pan, scroll-to-zoom lineage of glowing paper dolls — founder at the top, the present below.
- Official portraits — every leader's likeness is archived the day they take power. The dead appear as they ruled, never as corpses, forever.
- Story connectors — links tell you how power moved: "won the vote", "seized by combat", "crowned by abdication (son)".
- Leader records — click any leader for their live STATUS or locked CHRONICLE, a generated account of their rise and fall.
- Cabinets over time — every leader's advisors, snapshotted whenever the government changes, as neat portrait grids.
- Pin the leaders worth remembering.
✦ Politics With Flavor
- Election letters list the full ballot — who voted for who, self-votes included.
- Appointment letters explain every pick: "spouse of the leader", "trusted, opinion +34", "deeply devout".
- Letters are styled per event: somber successions, celebratory coronations, alarming depositions.
- Leaders refill empty roles within a day or two — triumvirates convene a council first.
- Leader gizmos: appoint advisors, designate heirs, abdicate.
- Leaders actually lead — their vanilla abilities fire on their own: combat command when raiders hit, trials when someone guilty walks free, a morale speech when spirits sag, work drive in quiet times. (Toggleable.)

☰ Requirements & Compatibility
- Requires: Ideology DLC, Harmony
- Optional: Vanilla Ideology Expanded – Memes and Structures, Alpha Memes (unlock the non-elective governments). Fully functional without them.
- Save-safe to add mid-game. Standalone — replaces VOTE and LEADER / Colony Leadership (don't run two election systems).
- All succession uses the vanilla role API — abilities, apparel requirements, and titles behave exactly as vanilla expects.
♥ Pairs With
Modern Ideology Menu — its Leadership section becomes a full political dashboard when this mod is installed. The rest of the Modern X suite shares the same UI language.
