Changes Vanilla Weapons Expanded - Makeshift to Medieval tech level and replaces industrial component costs with medieval-accessible steel, wood, and jade costs. If Makeshift: Re-examined is installed, its added revolver is patched too.

Pantstain's Medieval Makeshift Weapons

A small XML patch for Vanilla Weapons Expanded - Makeshift that moves makeshift weapons into the Medieval tech level and replaces industrial component crafting costs with steel, wood, and jade.

This is intended for medieval, low-tech, tech-locked, or progression-based playthroughs where makeshift weapons fit better as crude unreliable early firearms instead of weak Industrial-era weapons.

What it changes

  • Changes the makeshift weapons research to Medieval
  • Changes makeshift weapon ThingDefs to Medieval
  • Replaces industrial component costs with steel, wood, and jade
  • Adds optional support for Makeshift: Re-examined

Patched weapons

  • Makeshift pistol
  • Makeshift revolver, if Makeshift: Re-examined is installed
  • Makeshift SMG
  • Makeshift rifle
  • Makeshift shotgun
  • Makeshift LMG

New crafting costs

  • Makeshift pistol: 25 steel + 10 wood + 3 jade
  • Makeshift revolver: 35 steel + 10 wood + 5 jade
  • Makeshift SMG: 45 steel + 15 wood + 7 jade
  • Makeshift rifle: 60 steel + 20 wood + 8 jade
  • Makeshift shotgun: 55 steel + 20 wood + 7 jade
  • Makeshift LMG: 90 steel + 30 wood + 10 jade

Requirements

Required:
  • Vanilla Weapons Expanded - Makeshift

Optional:
  • Makeshift: Re-examined

Load order (Should work properly with RimSort)

Load after:

  • Vanilla Weapons Expanded - Makeshift
  • Makeshift: Re-examined, if used

Compatibility

This is a simple XML patch. It does not include original assets, textures, sounds, or code from the patched mods.

Should be safe to add mid-save. Removing it will revert research/weapon/cost changes, but any already-crafted weapons should remain as normal items.
