Death of Sun Tweaks

Unofficial companion mod for Cybranian - Events. Death of Sun Tweaks expands Cybranian's Death of Sun event and adds configurable controls for Cybranian's standalone Global Cooling and Global Warming events. Instead of the apocalypse simply happening on Cybranian's terms, you decide when it begins, how quickly it progresses and how extreme it becomes.

Death of Sun

  • Set how many days it takes for the sun to reach 0% luminosity
  • Trigger Death of Sun manually at any time
  • Automatically start the event on a fixed game day
  • Or choose a random start window, such as day 30–60
  • Random start days are saved with the game and do not reroll after loading
  • Change progression speed while the event is already active
  • Optionally synchronize Cybranian's -200°C Global Cooling directly with the dying sun

Solar-Dependent Climate

As the sun dies, solar-driven climate effects gradually disappear with it.
  • Natural world-tile climate fades as luminosity decreases
  • Day/night temperature differences become weaker
  • Seasonal temperature variation becomes weaker
  • Daily random temperature variation becomes weaker
  • Heat Waves, Cold Snaps and Volcanic Winter have reduced temperature effects
At 0% sunlight, solar-driven temperature variation is effectively gone and the world settles around Cybranian's final climate state. Local heat sources remain unaffected. Heaters, fire, steam geysers, lava and other local sources of energy continue to work normally.

Solar Flare Scaling

As the star loses luminosity, Solar Flares weaken with it.
  • Natural Solar Flare chance decreases with remaining sunlight
  • Solar Flare duration decreases with remaining sunlight
  • Both use a sunlight² scaling curve
  • At 50% sunlight, Solar Flares have 25% of their normal chance and duration
  • At 0% sunlight, natural Solar Flares can no longer occur
  • Triggered Solar Flares retain a minimum duration of 10%
Solar Eclipses remain unchanged while sunlight exists, but at 0% luminosity they are removed from the natural incident pool.

Global Cooling & Global Warming

Cybranian's standalone climate events can also be customized. For both Global Cooling and Global Warming you can:
  • Set the total global temperature change
  • Set how many days it takes to reach the target
  • Use a fixed start day
  • Use a random start window
  • Trigger the event manually
The configured temperature is a global climate change, not an absolute outdoor temperature. Global Cooling and Global Warming cannot run at the same time. Death of Sun always has priority. If Death of Sun begins while a standalone climate event is active, that event is ended and Death of Sun takes over. Once Death of Sun has begun, standalone Global Cooling and Global Warming can no longer start.

Scenario Support

Death of Sun Tweaks adds its own climate configuration ScenPart to RimWorld's scenario editor. A scenario can configure one of three major climate events:
  • Death of Sun
  • Global Cooling
  • Global Warming
Death of Sun scenarios can configure:
  • Fixed or random auto-start
  • Event duration
  • Global Cooling synchronization
  • Solar-dependent climate behavior
  • Solar Flare scaling
Global Cooling and Global Warming scenarios can configure:
  • Fixed or random auto-start
  • Event duration
  • Target climate change
Scenario values apply only to that save and do not permanently overwrite your global mod settings.

Compatibility & Scope

Cybranian still handles the actual Death of Sun event, world temperature changes, biome transitions, frozen rivers and the original climate-event mechanics. Death of Sun Tweaks changes and expands how those systems progress without replacing them. The sun is dying. The world dies with it.
