A hand-crafted total overhaul of Rimworld, and a trusted vision of an entire community, all manually patched to work as one user-friendly world. Beginner friendly, designed for newcomers. Content packed, comprehensive, integrated, and clean.
Introducing Progression
This is a 7 years in the making, total conversion of Rimworld into a confidently content-rich new standalone narrative of traversing through all of human history. It is also a full-hearted attempt at making my dream video game. Your journey starts as a caveman, and takes you into godhood all within one authored and tailored brand-new experience. No configuration or technical knowledge required, just jump right in and experience everything modded Rimworld has to offer.
The modpack is host to over 1400 mods, with all of that content fully reorganized in a complex network of underlying patches making it feel like you installed just one mod. The end goal of the pack is to have Rimworld at its absolute maximum potential.
Looking for an easy way to just start playing the game?
This modpack is strictly designed for beginners, not veterans. Seven years ago, this modpack was initially conceived as my way of getting friends into the game, and that philosophy has been carried out as the project has massively increased in scope. There is no expectation of prior game knowledge, and nothing that makes modded content feel anything different than base game. Everything is inherently tutorialized by their slow and careful introductions.
We developed over 100 mods to improve the modpack
My team and I have built over 100 mods designed to make the modpack feel cohesive. This includes
- Custom overhauls of all major menus
- Full planet editor and narrative tools
- Thousands of text patches
- Thousands of research patches
All of this work is open source and free to modify, so folks can make their own packs from it.
A handcrafted research overhaul
Don't you find it odd that in vanilla Rimworld, you are given the ability to fly a spaceship and command an army of robots in the first five minutes of the game? What if you had to work through the ages to achieve each of those things, so they feel truly earned?
Playtested daily by 20,000 modpack users
The community tracks active bugs, writes patches, and fixes ongoing issues. When you boot your game, you will have 20,000 others playtesting your same list to ensure there are no bugs. Progression has its own independent culture, along with its own meta.
Adaptive community soundtrack of over 1500 songs
The game now features a full soundtrack for each era of the game. Each song has been handpicked and tested for each era, and is another personal passion project telling a thematic narrative through the evolution of music.
Optional total conversion into an immersive RPG
As a side project for this community, we have also introduced a brand new optional way to play the game. This is meant to be a slower, and more immersive way of playing for those who enjoy doing manual tasks or roleplaying.
- Control your character with WASD
- Embody a character and manage your team
An open-minded ideology of play
This is an intentional rejection of existing Rimworld culture, aiming to be a slower, more emotionally in-depth project. This is not a modpack about "space cowboys doing slavery and organ harvesting" and does not romantisize any one particular way of being. This is a project about expressing yourself. You can play it like an easy cozy animal-crossing simslike, or treat this modpack as the most hardcore experience Rimworld has to offer. There are themes of intense violence and torture, and also cozy cute decorations and erotic themes. There are no wrong ways of thinking, all ways of life and methodology are valid in the eyes of narrative.
We meticulously filter out the workshop for you
See if that describes you.
- Coming back to the game after a while?
- Worried about the mountains of untested vibe-coded mods?
- Or perhaps you want a nice starting point to build your own modlist.
Significantly raised standards
This is not just a better Rimworld, but an overhaul on some of its fundamental philosophies
- No more "bloat", nearly all menus redone to promote healthy content expansion
- Thousands of lines of text rewritten to be more player friendly
- All arbitrary in-game limits removed
- All available bugfixes included
- All possible performance improvements added
- The best possible internal development tools available
- Quality of life for all functions, without trivializing gameplay
- No meta restraints on design, DLC is just more content and not a product
- All additional modded content is treated as offiical content, and must conform to that standard
- The best versions of each texture chosen
Large amounts of content, patched to feel easy
The user interfaces of Rimworld were designed to handle a very small amount of content. This modpack fills the game with enough content to warrant overhauls of practically every form of presentation of the content to the player. The architect menu has been redone to have easy to navigate subcategories, the research tree is a modular node system for guilt free additions.
High standard of presentation
This modpack is designed to feel clean and classy, with no typos, references to external modification or tools, or inconsistencies. This is meant to feel as if you had opened the game directly from Steam, not like you downloaded a bunch of mods. We have patched hundreds of lines of text to fit the standard, as well as remaking the majority of the base user interfaces of the game.
Maintained daily
The community scans the workshop every day for new additions that would further the pack, and all issues or updates pertaining to mods are often dealt with the day of due to how active the community is.
